Long-term Care And Non-formal Persons Caring For Clients

The aim of the diploma thesis themed Long-term care and the informal persons caring for clients is to identify both positive and negative aspects of the long-term care and its influence on physical and mental condition of persons taking care and their closest relatives. At first, the thesis deals with the issue of long-term care in the Czech republic and its division into two categories, formal and informal. Furthermore, the thesis presents the situation of the informal caregivers who have to face various obstacles arising from the nature of long-term care, such as their complicated relation with the formal institutions, lack of financial support, worsening of their lives' qualities and also lack of social recognition of their status. In order to retrieve the relevant information within the scope of the research question, the method using half-structured interviews was used. The research sample consisted of 7 female respondents from České Budějovice and its surroundings who were taking care of persons between the age of 5 and 71 years. The pesons suffered either physical or mental disorders. Some of them suffered both physical and mental disorder. At the beginning of the research the caregivers received two main questions. The first question was focusing on their perception of the current system of rules for informal caregivers, whether they support it or not. The second question aimed on describing the biggest positives and also the setbacks related to the care of person with some kind of disorder. The outcome of the interviews was that if a person decides to care of a close person with disorder there is a wide network of social services provided for him, even though it could be definitely improved. The issues which could be improved are primarily financial income of caregivers, accessibility and afffordability of relief services, providing more information and education for the informal caregivers, and last but not least the opportunity for caregivers' self-realization and their position at the labour market.
Keeping care for the disabled people

The thesis deals with selected elements related to the care for people with disabilities, focusing on the factors which impede or complicate the treatment. Based on specialized literature, the thesis draws near the life of the caregivers as they cope with disabilities of their loved ones and adapt to new situations in life, change their way of life, be it in terms of housing, family relationships, relationships, employment or financial situation changes.
The analysis of society attitudes and the access of libraries to the disabled people

This study focuses on disabled users of public libraries. First, general attitude towards physically handicapped people is analyzed on the basis of literature review. Furthermore, past surveys were utilized in order to describe attitudes demonstrated by library staff in particular as well as approach taken by the libraries in order to ease access for disabled users to library services. Analysis is complemented by overview of current projects aimed to improve accessibility of libraries including communication facilities and tools overcoming construction barriers. General principles of barrier-free access to libraries are derived from this overview. The field survey in the second part of this study evaluates accessibility of selected libraries from the point of view of disables users. The sample focused particularly on libraries which have not been reviewed yet. Particular conditions in each library classify the respective institution to the corresponding category of accessibility. Ways of zootherapy utilization in educational institutions

Zootherapy is a method based on a positive interaction between animals and humans. The contact with animals has proved good in the treatment of attention and communication disorders, in ill people, in psychiatric patients, the elderly, the sensory, mentally or physically disabled people, but also in healthy individuals. The methods used are Animal Assisted Activities (AAA), Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) and Animal Assisted Education (AAE). Zootherapy in educational institutions has a positive impact on social relationships and learning, developing vocabulary, memory, emotions, it helps enhance self-reliance and it also has effect on physical condition of a child. The objective of this study was to survey the ways of zootherapy utilization in educational institutions in the České Budějovice region. The method of quantitative research was used to achieve the aims. Data were collected by the technique of participating observation, semi-standardized interview, documents analysis and photo-documentation. By the pilot research 9 facilities were chosen. The results have shown that the most frequently used animals are dogs and horses. Most often, zootherapy is carried out by attending the AAA program. The AAE method is not much used, although educational institutions that are involved. Zootherapy is predominantly practiced in people with disabilities. The most professionally developed technique is canistherapy. Zootherapy is provided on a regular basis. Funding is supported by grants, projects, subsidies, sponsors, parents. Educational institutions personnel have little knowledge of zootherapy. Legislature is executed mainly by a contract between the facility and the providing organization. The research outcomes suggest the following hypotheses: H 1: ``The only zootherapy provider in educational institutions within the České Budějovice region are the o.s. Hafík, o.s. Koníček and o.s. Arpida.`` H 2: ``Educational institutions in the České Budějovice region do not have conditions for the resident form of zootherapy.{\crqq} The thesis may serve as a resource for professionals, zootherapists, but also for the general public. All the information is arranged into the register of ways of using zootherapy in educational institutions.
