VIKTOROVÁ, Nikola
The diploma thesis deals with the ethical aspects we can indentify when dealing with bodies of the deceased. It describes how the deceased body is treated with respect to human dignity or human rights and also shows how the deceased's body was treated in the past and how funeral ceremonies and burials of the human remains looked like. It also deals with the evaluation of the approach to dead body these days. The procedures after death are described as well as the forms of funeral, funeral services or cemeteries. The thesis marginally deals with the funeral customs of selected ethnic minorities living in our territory. A special area is dedicated to the treatment of deceased children, the possibilities of their burial and farewell to their parents. Heart transplantation in the Czech republic by economic view: international comparison
Havlíková, Marie ; Janíčko, Martin (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
In my bachelor thesis, I primarily focus on the economy of heart transplantation. At first there is an important topic of health economy and its specific features. Then I go deeper in the topic and mention the economy of transplantation, supply and demand of organs and define donors and the recipients of organs. I also describe the legal system of transplantation and organ donation and mention the history of heart transplantations (HTX). The second part of my thesis is concerned with the situation of heart transplantations in the USA. I compare how the situation about HTX changed there during the last decades and how is it with the costs and payments. Finally, the third part of my thesis deals with the heart transplantations in the Czech Republic and another six European countries. Using the econometric model, I try to estimate the average waiting period for heart transplantation and its determinants.
Organ donation, transplantation medicine and efficiency. Are the expectations of donors fulfilled?
Ryšavá, Michaela ; Špecián, Petr (advisor) ; Máslo, Lukáš (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of organ donation and its aim is to discover the determinants that positively affect the efficiency of organ allocation and subsequently to answer the question of whether larger liberalization brings better results. In the theoretical part, I deal with the question of free market and the threat of its failure due to asymmetric information, the ethical aspects of donation and the expanding black market. In the practical part, I deal with the determinants of the efficiency of organ allocation based on the comparison of four states: the Czech Republic, Spain, the UK and the USA. I come to the conclusion that the efficiency of organ allocation is positively influenced by the high donor and recipient age closeness and by the preference of the previous donors. In terms of determinants in the form of a healthcare system and the institution that deals with the organ allocation, Beveridge's model of healthcare is best with the combination of the elements applied in the Spanish model. This successful combination, however, is not a remedy for organ failure and can not be applied everywhere. Larger liberalization, as a result of better outcomes by state-run institutions for organ allocation, appears to be ineffective.
How much for a kidney: estimation of a price eliminating the donor shortage in CZ
Kašlík, Jan ; Šťastný, Daniel (advisor) ; Potužák, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis studies the implemantation of a potential kidney market in the Czech Republic, in which donors would have the posibility to get monetary compensations for their kidneys. The main goal of this thesis is to determine the price of a kidney which would eliminate the waiting list and would allow all the people on it to get a transplantation. The price is a monetary compensation that causes indiference in potential donors as to whether to donate or not. The calculation of the compensation is done through determinating the risks patients undertake and calculating compensations for each of those risks. The value of the compensation for Czech Republic determinated in this thesis is 913 217 CZK. This amount would elicit an increase in the supply of kidneys that and would eliminate shortage and the waiting list. Estimation of the price is largerly dependent on the correct estimation of the value of a statistical life in the Czech Republic. Improving this value is, according to my findings, the most important step in the process of implementing such market.
