High-power LED driver for under-water communication
Hroch, Vojtěch ; Barcík, Peter (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on design of a transmitter for optical links in water using power LED. This thesis analyzes commercial availability of LEDs and their properties, power transistors needed to switch the diods and choice suitable transistor drivers. Furthermore, the thesis is focuse on modulations, which are using in optical communication. Work mentions some aspects of this issue for the underwater signal transmission in terms of the required wavelength depending on the attenuation of optical signals in water. Next solved problematic is designs of circuits including the the design of printed circuit boards. Last part in this work is evaluation of achieved results in comparison with expectations and the possibility of futher improvements.
Device for Measurement of Optical Visibility
Rejfek, L. ; Brázda, V. ; Fišer, Ondřej
This paper is about a proposed device for the optical visibility measurement. This device is usable for monitoring of the fog mightiness. The principle of device is based on comparison of attenuation on two optical links. The fog mightiness is determined by the using of the Beer-Lambert Law. The philosophy of electrical arrangement is also explained.
Analysis of situation in implementation of FTTx networks at home and abroad
Kuchar, Anton ; Hrstka, J.
In the contribution, up-to-date information on implementation and utilization of optical fibre-based FTTx-type access networks in the Czech Republic and abroad is presented. Emphasis is placed on economical and political aspects of this process. Some successful FTTx projects realized at home and abroad are described. An attempt is made to outline the trends of development of FTTx-based access networks.
FTTx case study
Kuchar, Anton ; Švrček, M. ; Wacnik, E.
In the framework of the European IST project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) techno-economical analysis of a broadband access network employing FTTx architecture has been performed. The aim of the FTTx project is to enhance the existing CATV network enabling to provide triple play services and extend it to cover a new home development area. FTTH as well as FTTB and P2P/P2MP variations have been considered. The case study can serve as an inspiration for other similar cases.
Utilization of cable infrastructure for provisioning of services based on the Internet – some Results of the European project BReATH
Kuchar, Anton
Objectives and preliminary results of the European FP6 IST Project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) are presented. Examples of utilisation of optical fibre infrastructure for provisioning interned-based broadband services are given.
Results from the European IST Project BReATH and some Observations from the “Europe at the Speed of Light 2006” Conference held in Vienna
Kuchar, Anton
The mission and preliminary results achieved in the framework of the European FP6 IST Project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) are presented. Advances in FTTx technologies and in their deployment in the access networks as presented in the “Europe at the Speed of Light 2006” Conference held in Vienna are described.
Advances in optical access and metropolitan area networks
Kuchar, Anton
The paper presents an overview of the access and metropolitan area networks with emphasis on their optical variations. Apart from the technological aspects also the economical and legislature issues are discussed. The state of deployment of the networks at home and abroad is reported.
Broadband access networks
Kuchar, Anton
Currently, transmission capacity of long-haul optical networks is of the order of Tb/s. In many cases, however, these networks are not fully utilised. The main reason is insufficient capacity of access networks. In this paper an attemp is made to analyse the situation in the access networks from the technology, economy and legislation point of view and the present role of optical as well as competitive technologies and their prospective application in the access networks is discussed.
