Anoikonyms in the Týnec Region

The aim of this thesis is to collect, categorise, and analyse current anoikonyms belonging to the cadastral area of Týnec nad Sázavou and Bukovany. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces anoikonyms from the general point of view. Moreover, there is a chapter which describes the researched area. The practical part of the thesis is based on the process of collecting current anoikonyms and their categorisation. The data was collected from maps, literature, and field research. All anoikonyms were ordered alphabetically and described in terms of localisation, type, word formation, and motivation. Subsequently, the anoikonyms were analysed according to Šmilauer's meaning classification, type classification, and method of creation. At the end of the practical part, the anoikonyms are compared with their variants.
On the issue of street names in České Budějovice

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of street names in part of České Budějovice. Specifically, the area of Čtyři Dvory, sídliště Máj and Šumava and the surroundings of Švábův Hrádek. In the theoretical part, the study of local names is discussed, i.e. onomastics and toponomastics, as well as urbanonymy. In its practical part, the thesis deals with a detailed analysis of the street names, and a description of the historical development of the given areas is also included. The overall transformation of the street names is examined based on literature. The aim of this diploma thesis is to provide a comprehensive view of the development of street names in the researched areas.
Toponyms of the Microregion Pomalší

This master thesis deals with the issue of place names in the microregion of Pomalší. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part contains theoretical knowledge from the linguistic disciplines of onomastics and toponomastics. Furthermore, it specifically deals with the issue of place names and their classification. In the practical part, we will apply the acquired theoretical knowledge to the oikonyms of the researched area, explain the origin of the names of the given municipalities, briefly present their history and place the oikonyms in the selected classification. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the toponymy of the Pomalší microregion.
The Street Name terminology in the Town of Jindřichův Hradec

The master thesis deals with the scientific field of onomastics, specifically focusing on toponyms. It focuses on urbanonymy in the area of Jindřichův Hradec and the main aim is to contribute to the understanding of street nomenclature in the area. The analysis is guided in two directions, the first one is devoted to the motivation of the origin of the names of selected streets based on historical literature and the second part is complemented by the perspective of the development of streets over time. The analysis is based on a study of literature dealing with onomastic issues.
Namelessness in the Works of George R. R. Martin and Ursula Le Guin

The thesis explores the significance and implications of namelessness in fantasy literature on the example of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin and the Earthsea series by Ursula Le Guin. The literary use of namelessness serves to develop characters, examine power structures, and challenge traditional notions of identity and belonging. The author uses various theoretical perspectives, including those of Josef Campbell, Carl Jung, Michel Foucault, Gérard Genette, Jane Bliss, and Lao Tzu to analyze the phenomenon. By drawing on these diverse perspectives and applying different methods of analysis, the thesis highlights the interdisciplinary nature of the study, drawing from theories in history, mythology, psychology, philosophy, and literary criticism.
The Urbanonyms in the town of Sedlčany

This bachelor thesis deals with the names of streets and squares in the town of Sedlčany. Attention is paid to the changes in the street names from the nineteenth century to present time. This time span is divided into six periods based on historical development. In each of these periods, the urbanonyms are divided according to the motivation of their name, which is explained for each of the urbanonyms. The ratio of honorific urbanonyms and orientational urbanonyms is also the focus of observation. The aim of this thesis is to contribute to the onomastics of the town of Sedlčany.
Analysis of street terminology in smaller towns in district Jindřichův Hradec

This bachelor thesis deals with the current state and historical change of street names in smaller towns around Jindřichův Hradec. Based on information from the town archives, reference books, and other sources I analyse minutely the street names in Nová Bystřice, Lomnice nad Lužnicí, and Stráž nad Nežárkou. The aim of this thesis is, among other things, to compare honorific and non-honorific street names of individual localities with each other and to determine the state and development of street names in one of the regions of the South Bohemia Region.
The Street Names in Třešť

The topic of the bachelor's thesis is the street nomenclature of the town Třešť, located in the district of Jihlava. There is basic information about the study of local names, ie onomastics and toponomastics. Using professional and historical literature and archival maps, the development and motivation of naming urbanonyms in Třešť and their transformation, especially in the 20th century, were recorded. A comparison of current and historical street names is used here. Streets are categorized according to the motivation of their naming. The aim of the work is to create a compact picture of the development of street nomenclature in Třešť.

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of toponymy in a selected area of České Budějovice, specifically the area of Rožnov. The first part of the thesis contains theoretical knowledge from the linguistic disciplines of onomastics and toponomastics. The second part of the thesis focuses on street nomenclature, including a historical description of this area. Urbanonyms are monitored on the basis of historical literature with regard to their development and changes from the time of their creation to the present. Street names are classified according to semantic circles and semantic motivation. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the knowledge of the urbanonymy of Rožnov.
