The role of nurse in prevention against of prostate disorder
DUBOVÁ, Marie
Abstract The title of the present bachelor{\crq}s thesis is: ``The role of the nurse in prevention against prostate disorder{\crqq}, and its objective is to identify the role of the nurse in early diagnostics of prostate disorder. Nurses have a critical role in prevention. They can notice the signs that are the first symptoms that might develop into a prostate tumor. The nurse is able to provide a patient with necessary information about the risk factors related to tumor occurrence. The thesis used data collected in a quantitative research using the method of questionnaire for patients and in a qualitative research using the method of interviews carried out with nurses. The research included nurses working for General Practitioners in their offices and also patients observed by these doctors in Jindřichův Hradec. The survey was anonymous. After the data had been collected, the outcomes related to given hypotheses and research questions were received. Evaluation of the outcomes received from the survey showed whether the hypotheses were correct or not. It also provided answers to the research questions. Hypothesis 1: Nurses use general principles of education. The hypothesis has been partially confirmed. Hypothesis 2: Men have insufficient supply of information related to early diagnostics of prostate disorders. The hypothesis has not been confirmed. Hypothesis 3: Younger men have less information than older ones. This has been confirmed. The answer to the research question ``How do nurses provide education?{\crqq} is: They use information brochures, oral instructions, and provide Internet links. What are the most frequent problems in education of the patients suffering from prostate disorders according to the nurses? It is most often patients{\crq} shyness and intimacy of the problem. The nurse plays a significant role in prevention therefore it is crucial for her to have sufficient amount of information about the problem. The outcome of the survey identified the level of such knowledge and it provided new material for education.

Nursing process for children with lower respiratory tract disease.
LAZOROVÁ, Hana
Breathing is a basic biological human need. Human needs´ satisfaction is realized with help of treatment process. In this process nurses deal with an individual as a whole. Permanent evaluation and repeated assessment of the changing needs of the ill ensures the quality of provided care. There are many situations in children, where increased care concerning breath passages is needed. Bagassosis belongs also to these conditions. The research examination was realized through the quantitative method. On the basis of interviews and data analyses casuistry was worked out. The examination was performed in children who were admitted to hospital with laryngitis, bronchitis and asthma bronchiale. The aim of the thesis was to find out the specific features of nursing attendance in children with bagassosis. Three research questions were set for this aim. V1 What treatment diagnosis occur in children with bagassosis? Through the research examination it was determined that in all observed children suffering from bagassosis, a similar nursing diagnosis was determined. In all children treatment diagnosis 00322 - Ineffective Breathing, 00095 Sleep Disorders and 00039 Risk of Aspiration occurred. V2 What treatment intervention is used in children suffering from bagassosis? In all children with bagassosis treatment interventions are in accordance in some points. The choice of intervention is influenced by the type of ailment as well as by the children´s age. V3 Are there any differences in the treatment of children with laryngitis, bronchitis and asthma bronchiale? On the basis of the research examination, it was determined that the treatment concerning children with these diseases is similar, but not the same, as each illness has its specific features. The results of this research examination can serve to nurses working at children´s wards to improve care in children with bagassosis.
The Awareness of HIV/AIDS among students of the Secondary Health School in Písek
NOVOTNÁ, Jana
HIV / AIDS places many governmental, national and international organizations in a difficult situation. Despite the global efforts aimed at the prevention and treatment of this disease, the number of HIV positive persons as well as people dying of AIDS is increasing every year. It is considered that a key role to reduce this trend is played by education, especially among teenagers, who are one of the most vulnerable groups in the transmission of HIV / AIDS. Healthcare professionals should have enough quality information about the issue of HIV / AIDS, because it may just be they who will be one of the links leading to the reduction in the incidence of this infectious disease. This thesis, titled ?Informing students of the Secondary Medical Schools Písek about HIV / AIDS?, contains two parts. The first one is theoretical and it deals with general issues of HIV / AIDS, its characteristics, history, epidemiology, transmission, clinical picture, diagnostics, and treatment. Moreover, it deals with possible methods of preventing HIV transmission, including prevention of HIV transmission in healthcare facilities. This part does not omit the role of peer education and nurses as possible mediators for the transmission of information on preventing HIV / AIDS transmission. The second part summarizes the results of quantitative research, which was conducted with the participation of students of the Secondary Medical School in Písek in the survey. The questionnaire, intended for the students of the said school, was designed in order to verify the knowledge of future healthcare professionals about HIV / AIDS and also it asked whether the students, as adolescents, behave in a way as to increase the risk of HIV transmission. In the questionnaire, which contained 22 questions, the students could express their subjective views on the quality and amount of information about HIV / AIDS provided in their classes at school. The research results were processed and presented by the graphs, bar as well as pie ones, in the empirical part of this thesis. After reviewing the results from the questionnaire these hypotheses were confirmed: H1 Students know the methods of preventing HIV infection. H2 Higher-form students have a wider knowledge of the principles of HIV / AIDS than students of lower forms. In contrast, hypothesis H3 was disproved , which was: ?Students of all forms at the SZŠ in Písek have more information on HIV / AIDS, as compared to an earlier research, than students of another non-medical branch secondary school?. For this purpose, the results of a thesis by Lucie Stříteská were used. Stříteská studied the level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS among students of a secondary vocational school in Valašské Meziříčí in 2008. The results of this thesis can be used by the Secondary Medical School in Písek, or its management and teachers, to learn about the level of students? knowledge about HIV / AIDS and to intensify education in areas where students do not have a good knowledge level during the study.
Risk assessement as a method for evaluation of preventive and crisis measures in the control of avian influenza in the Czech republic
NOVOTNÁ, Lucie
The topic of my bachelor thesis is: {\clqq}Risk assessment as a method for evaluation of preventive and crisis measures in the control of the avian influenza in the Czech Republic``. Humanity has already fought with a series of diseases since the beginning of their existence. Recently the avian influenza has come into prominence. The history of the avian influenza, which stroke a wide spectrum of avian kinds, is probably very long, however the public became interested in it after the transmission to a human in Hong Kong in 1997. It has been responsible for hundreds of human deaths since. In my bachelor thesis, I was trying to estimate the possible risks of preventive and crisis measures in the control of the avian influenza in the Czech Republic. The {\clqq}word`` method of risks estimation was used and three possible risks, which could occur during an outbreak of the avian influenza in the Czech Republic, were selected {--} the risk of a human contagion by the avian influenza; the risk of a poultry contagion by the avian influenza and the risk of an outbreak of a pandemic virus. While estimating the risks, activities associated with the liquidation and prevention of the bird flu by the integrated rescue system, activities of the breeders and activities of the public were taken particularly under consideration. In terms of spreading of the disease, activities presenting the least risk seem to be those of the integrated rescue system. This is due to the fact that its members have been given an adequate training and education. The importance of the populace for the possibility of spreading the bird flu seems to be relatively low, however an appropriate degree of foreknowledge is highly recommendable. It was found that in terms of spreading the avian influenza, it is the breeder and other staff members associated with the farm, that are of particular importance. This is especially the case if they are not fully adhering to the appropriate level of disinfection and missing out on duties given by the law.
Alimentary Infection and Intoxication in the Region of České Budějovice
PRAŽMOVÁ, Zuzana
The incidence of alimentary infection is closely connected with the standard of living and the lifestyle. Even though hygiene and health education seem to be maintained at a high level, there is a yearly incidence of alimentary infections in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of this Bachelor´s work summarises basic information of alimentary diseases as they are reported in professional literature. The attention is paid to different kinds of alimentary infections, their brief description and prevention essentials which were introduces as the 5 keys by the World Health Organisation. The aim of the practical part has been to find out how much are the inhabitants in the region of České Budějovice informed about safe handling of food and what they know about infection risks resulted from unsuitable or inappropriate food handling. There were three hypotheses stated at the beginning. A quantitative research method, a questionnaire, was used. The survey was realised in the region of České Budějovice and the research set was made up by randomly chosen respondents of both laymen and professionals (students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies). Three hundred respondents were asked to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaire data, statistically processed, have proved the hypotheses. The findings have shown that the common knowledge of safe food handling is not yet satisfactory in the region of České Budějovice. The Bachelor´s work can be used as a supportive material in health education realised by the state authorities or as a study material for students and general public.
Awareness of patients about diagnostics and therapy of malignant gynecologic tumours
PLOJHAROVÁ, Anna
Three goals were set for the work. The first one was to find out whether women see their gynecologists once a year for the recommended preventive examination. The second goal was to asses the level of awareness among women regarding diagnostics and therapy of malignant gynecological tumours. The third goal of the work was to find out whether women are sufficiently informed about possible prevention and protection against cancer development. In connection with these goals three hypotheses were set to validate them. The first hypothesis supposed that women do not undergo yearly preventive examinations. It has not been validated by the research. The second hypothesis, that women are sufficiently informed about gynecological diseases, has proved to be correct. The third hypothesis, that women are sufficiently informed about prevention against cancer development, has also turned out to be correct.
The retirements homes nurses´knowledge of how to provide the first aid as an assumption of decreasingt the mortality
ULBRICHOVÁ, Dagmar
The subject chosen by me is knowledge of first aid principles of nurses in Pensioner´s Houses as a precondition of death rate reduction, since first aid is the first, essential element of the rescue chain. First aid must be often provided also in number of health institutions, for example in Pensioner´s Houses. Pensioner´s Houses are home for old people, who are the most risky group considering injuries and acute sickness. In order to achieve the above objective a qualitative research has been applied in the form of asking open questions in interviews as well as observations. Data collection has been performed with nurses in Chýnov Pensioner´s House. Data collected during interviews were recorded in a record sheet providing space for answers to all questions. Observations were more of the type complementing and extending information on knowledge concerning resuscitation obtained from the interview. Observations focused on situation when nurses solved a practical task with a figurine used for first aid training. The target and subject group included ten nurses working in Chýnov Pensioner´s House, who may experience situations requiring their first aid skills. The research has been conducted between February and March 2008. Prior research initiation I have been granted permission of the Pensioner´s House´s management to perform this research in their institute. The objective of the work was to map knowledge of first aid principles of nurses in Pensioner´s Houses. This objective has been achieved. Nevertheless in my opinion nurses would benefit from training concerning new first aid practices. The following hypothesis have been defined on the basis of the completed research. H1 Nurses do have knowledge of first aid principles. H2 Nurses are not aware of new recommendations for resuscitation. The following research question may be formulated based on the achieved results: {\clqq}Wouldn{\crq}t it be beneficial to organize periodical fist aid training for health staff in Pensioner´s Houses?`` Results of this research will be provided to Pensioner´s House management to assist them in improvement of their care provided to old people. Chýnov Pensioner´s House will provide first aid training to nurses.
The quality of nutrition during pupilage
MIKÁTOVÁ, Martina
Our nutrition significantly influences our healthy development, quality of our life and mainly our health condition in general. No one discredits today the fact that faults in our nutrition result in emergence and further development of illnesses. On the contrary there is enough evidence on a very positive effect of changes in nutrition on a single person, group of people or the whole generation. The objective of my diploma thesis was to find out the quality of food consumed by school-age pupils. I used quantitative research for my diploma work. Data aquisition was carried out in the form of question-forms in order to address as many respondents as possible. Questions {--}forms were alloted for pupils at primary schools. There were three hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: Czech pupils consume fuel food overly rich in sugars. This hypothesis was proved.. Hypothesis 2: Czech children consume less than 30g of fibre a day. The hypothesis was also proved. Hypothesis 3: In pupils´ ingestion of food there is more than 300 mg of cholesterol a day. This hypothesis was not proved at all. It is obvious from the results that Czech pupils do not consume recommended healthy food. The results of my diploma thesis could be used as a basis for improvement in eating habits of school-age children. Bad parental approach to healthy nutrition is one of the key factors that contribute to the growth of obesity and other serious deseases. Parents should be informed about bad and wrong eating habits of their children and at the same time they should be advised how to make a healthy and suitable daily menu for their children. Parents could be kept informed by various informative leaflets distributed at schools or there might be held special lectures aimed at this broad issue. Because we are one of the states where obesity is a big problem even for a younger population. I am sure that all these activities could be useful for gradual improvement in changes concerning bad unhealthy eating habits of pupils, their better health condition and even restricition of obesity.
