Storage conditions and protection of the collection of old prints in selected libraries of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University

This bachelor's thesis deals with the conditions of storage and handling of old prints and rare books published before 1860 in the holdings of the Jan Palach Library, the Department of Germanic Studies Library and the Historical Cabinet, sub-libraries of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. It is written as a case study based on a combination of temperature and air humidity measurements and observations, mapping the current condition of shelves and racks, air pollution, lighting conditions, basic handling of books, and the protection of the collection. It also evaluates threats based on its findings. The obtained data showed that the conditions in these libraries are not suitable and require implementing specific changes proposed in the work.
