Single methods were evaluated separately and the amount of damages, according to the methods and evaluating of plants, were compared next. The data of 7 checking and comparing areas, 10 biting areas, 11 transects and 10 cultures were used for the evaluation. Three most represented plants were evaluated.
Právní úprava v oblasti ochrany před škodami zvěří na lesních porostech
Šafránek, Zbyněk
The dissertation thesis deals with the problem of damage caused by game to forest stands. In the introductory part of the thesis there is described and quantified the harmful effect of game on forest stands based on data available for public, as well as on the author´s own research. The basic principles of hunting and game management are also described in the thesis. The Slovak, German and Polish legislation are analyzed in more detail. Based on a detailed analysis of domestic legislation and jurisprudence, possible changes are proposed. These changes should be directed to balanced relationship between users of hunting land on the one hand and users of hunting land on the other. Finally the thesis also deals with the possibilities of standardization of data collection on the plots damaged by game and suggests possible solutions.
Effects of wild ungulates on vegetation in an abandoned landscape
Horčičková, Eva ; Herben, Tomáš (advisor) ; Diekmann, Martin (referee) ; Tichý, Lubomír (referee)
Wild ungulates are considered one of the major drivers for shaping terrestrial ecosystems, which has been developing since the early Cenozoic. Understanding the effects of ungfulates on vegetation is necessary for qualified knowledge how European landscape looked prior to human habitation and how it would look like without human intervention. Further, such understanding is of practical importance as management information necessary for managing abandoned landscapes. While the present-day wild ungulate European fauna does not contain several large grazers like auroch (Bos primigenius) anymore, the landscape has long been affected by them. It thus possesses historical experience of response to large grazers, which has been further maintained by livestock grazing. Importantly, the European landscape is experiencing a steady increase of populations of deer (Cervidae) and wild boar (Sus scrofa) with major effects of vegetation and landscape structure. While the effects of these present-day dominants have been studied mainly in forest habitats, there is a growing evidence that they both promote species diversity of forest understory and, interestingly, preferably feed in open vegetation and thus can affect broader landscape heterogeneity. The main aim of this thesis is therefore to examine effects of...
Vliv zvěře na stav a vývoj dřevinné vegetace v regionu Týna nad Vltavou
Odehnal, Lukáš
The subject of this diploma was monitoring browsing damage to regeneration of woody plants in hunting area Bečice. Monitoring was made in spring and autumn 2015 on twelve rectangular transects according to the methodolgy of monitoring browsing damage on permanent transects (Čermák, Mrkva, 2003). During this investigation was controlled 3 622 individuals of eight woody plants species. From this species was the dominant sessile oak (Quercus petraea), followed by European beech (Fagus sylvatica) and Norway spruce (Picea abies). The most percentage representation of damage of regeneration (82 %) was fir (Abies alba). At least it was damage Scotss pine (Pinus sylvestris), only 15.24 %. Browsing demage in this region was mostly caused only by roe deer. Results were made in relation to the numbers game, and measures have been proposed hunting and forestry management to reduce negative impacts of ungulate browsing on nature regeneration.
Vliv okusu na přirozenou obnovu a dynamiku lesa v okolí Starého Hrozenkova
Rapant, Jan
The subject of this diploma thesis was monitoring damage of the natural regeneration of trees caused by browsing even-toed ruminant animals near Starý Hrozenkov. The monitoring was carried out in 2013 on fourteen plots of rectangular shape by methodology ČERMÁK, MRKVA (2003). Twelve species of trees have been found, while the most was represented by the beech Fagus sylvatica, followed by sycamore Acer pseudoplatanus and Norway spruce Picea abies. The most damaged tree species was silver birch Betula pendula with damage of 74%, but this tree species made a minimal representation. Ash Fraxinus excelsior was the least damaged tree species -- 22%, Larch and pine were without damage. For the sake of dynamics, the nine plots were measured once again. The growth of sycamore was slowed down.
Škody působené zvěří v lesních porostech LS Rychtářov a návrh opatření na jejich snížení
Valíček, Jakub
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify and describe the current status of damaged young covers by wild animals, to assess the expected impact on growth dynamism, further to evaluate the existing forest management, especially the use of methods and means to protect forests against game damages and to suggest measures to reduce damages of forest management Rychtářov, which is a part of the state enterprise Military forests and farms, Plumlov division. Therefore this thesis deals with the damages in one of three forest districts of mentioned division.
Evaluation of taste repellents for protection of tree planting stock from deer browsing
Triner, Libor ; Kuneš, Ivan (advisor) ; Kupka, Ivo (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to assess the efficacy of two repellent products with active ingredients denatonium benzoate and capsaicin to protect the newly established forest tree planting prior to browsing damage by wild game. Repellents were tested on two different experimental plots planted with silver fir (Abies alba). Application of repellents held in three terms and total three times were the damages, which were included in the framework of the six-rating scale, has been detected. The effectiveness of these repellents has been demonstrated already during the second term damage assessments caused by game. During the more than 14-month experiment was damaged almost 2.5 times fewer seedlings treated with repellents based on denatonium benzoate and capsaicin than untreated seedlings, serving as a control. The most common form of damage to the tree was bitten off terminal bud with little scope of additional damage. Damage to seedlings by game differed significantly even within the investigated areas. Use of repellents did not affect the physiological death of seedlings. It was justify the conclusion that most of the damages were caused by roe deer (Capreolus capreolus). Based on several scientific papers on the efficacy of repellent products based on capsaicin and denatonium benzoate was concluded that the main active ingredient in tested repellents is capsaicin.
Protection of the young plantation against the game browsing with use of sheep flees form meat breed and flees breed in area of Železné hory area
Ješátko, Jiří ; Nakládal, Oto (advisor) ; Zeman, Jakub (referee)
This Bachelor paper compares and evaluates the effectiveness of a mechanical protection of forest crops against game browsing by means of using wool from meat-sheep and dairy-sheep breeds. Twenty-one sites were chosen in the Bojanov municipal forest for the use of different types of sheep wool against game browsing. The local growth is dominated by young spruce, with only 10% of other species. Six of these sites were treated with meat-sheep wool, six others with dairy-sheep wool, and the remaining nine sites were treated with both types combined. The primary criterion for evaluation was the damage, through browsing, to the terminal shoot. The extent of the damaged spruce growth in individual localities was regularly monitored in monthly intervals and recorded in a table. Consequently, the data were analyzed and the effectiveness of individual wool types determined through the use of the goodness of fit test. The overall damage caused in the sites treated with meat-sheep and dairy-sheep wool was 1.58 % and 1.77 %, respectively. When applied to the comparison of damage caused in areas treated with meat-sheep and dairy-sheep wool, the goodness of fit test revealed negligible differences, which made it impossible to determine which of the two types of wool is more effective. The quantity of damaged crops in sites treated with both types of wool combined (n=187; chi2=0.37; p=0.53). The quantity of damaged crops in sites treated with meat-sheep wool or dairy-sheep wool only (n=46; chi2=0.15; p=0.69).
Analysis of significant foreign methods for evaluation of game damages to forests
Šafránek, Zbyněk
Game damages to forests are actual and often discussed problem. Evaluation and quantification of these damages in the Czech Republic is legally enshrined in Act No. 449/2001 Coll. about game management and in Decree No. 55/1999 Coll. about method of calculating the amount of injury or damage caused to forests. The aim of this article is to analyze the methods of assessment of damage to forests game in some European countries with similar forestry management like in the Czech republic and comparation with czech legislation.
Possibilities of evaluation and comparison of data obtained from control and comparison plots (CCP) in relation to damages caused by game to forest
Šafránek, Zbyněk ; Matala, Juho
The article deals with the possibilities of evaluation and interpretation of data on game damages in forests which is obtained and collected from control and comparison plots (CCP). Obligation to record the data in young forest stands on the base of control and comparison plots is directed by Act No. 289/1995 Coll., respectively Ministry of Agriculture Decree No. 101/1996 Sb. Each forest owner who has more than 50 hectars of forest has obligation to establish control and comparison plots. System of these plots is composed of two square areas with sides of 5 meters, one of them is fenced, the second is not fenced. At present there is only annual gathering of data, but this data are not further evaluated. This article shows the possibilities of evaluation of this data by the example from the fencing experiment of Finnish Forest Research Institute in the strictly protected natural reserve Pisavaara, Northern Finland.
