Determinants of the circulatory system diseases among the Czech population
Lustigová, Michala
Determinants of circulatory system diseases among the Czech population Abstract The determinants of circulatory system diseases are very well known, modifiable risk factors and factors widely spread among populations are in focus for the public health research. The aim of this thesis is a quantification of main cardiovascular risk factors in the Czech population using the survival analysis and HAPIEE cohort data. The epidemiologic situation, trends in the Czech population health including "the cardiovascular revolution" is discussed in the first part of the thesis. Among the Czech population high prevalence of many risk factors were found. The education had the strongest impact on cardiovascular health from sociodemographic characteristics. The negative effect of smoking, prevalence of high blood pressure, prevalence of diabetes and physical inactivity was confirmed. On the other hand the impact of obesity, binge drinking and high blood cholesterol level was not significant among the Czech population. The population approach in cardiovascular epidemiology and cardiovascular health promotion as well are discussed in the last chapter. Keywords: diseases of the circulatory system, mortality, health transition, cardiovascular health, risk factors, survival analysis, health promotion

Regional analysis of circulatory disease mortality in the Czech Republic, Italy and Sweden from the 1980's to the present
Pánek, Jan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Diseases of the circulatory system have long been the most frequent cause of death in the developed world. The aim of this study is to describe and analyze the evolution of mortality from selected diseases of the circulatory system in the Czech Republic, Italy and Sweden from the 1980th to the present with the emphasis on the regional aspects. Its main part consists of analysis of regional differentiation, including international comparisons. Mortality from ischemic heart disease, cerebral vascular disease and atherosclerosis decreased during the reporting period, while mortality from hypertensive diseases increased. Despite the gradual convergence, mortality rates remain distinctly different in selected countries.
Development of regional differentiation of cardiovascular system mortality in the Czech Republic 1993-2008
Němeček, Ondřej ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
The goal of the study is to describe and analyze regional differences in cardiovascular system mortality in the Czech Republic. The work is focused on the period 1993-2008. Regional differentiation is examined on regional basis separately for men and women. The work is aimed at total cardiovascular system mortality. Then it deals with the most common mortality reasons. The main indicator of mortality is standardized mortality rate. In the described period there was a significant fall of the standardized mortality rate on cardiovascular system diseases. Regional differences didn't change much during the examined period. At the end of the study there is a division of regions based on the similar mortality characteristics.

Analysis of the Czech population mortality by causes of death
NEDELČEV, Marek
The main aim of this thesis is an analysis of mortality by causes of death in the districts of the Czech Republic. The work also makes an effort to demonstrate certain dependence between mortality and socioeconomic factors. The first part introduces readers to the issue of mortality and causes of death. This part describes its development, terminology and demographic indicators. The second part contains an analysis of mortality by cause of death in the last ten years. The work also contains the factor and cluster analyses which show dependencies between mortality and socioeconomic factors.
Recent changes in the mortality rate of cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms in the Czech Republic
Valášková, Veronika ; Pechholdová, Markéta (advisor) ; Šimpach, Ondřej (referee)
The aim of my dissertation is to describe and compare recent changes in the mortality rate of two of the most common causes of death in the Czech Republic. I divided my work into two main parts. The first part of my dissertation is theoretical and consists of an inventory of data sources that I used, list of basic concepts related to mortality, coding of causes of death, history of international classification of diseases, institutions dealing with these issues, and concluding the theoretical essay, the term cardiovascular revolution is introduced. In the second part, at first, I analyse the development of the overall mortality, which is followed by the comparison of the development of mortality of neoplasms' selected causes and diseases of the circulatory system, using the standardized measures.
Mortality by cause of death: international comparison of recent trends
Filip, Jakub ; Pechholdová, Markéta (advisor) ; Langhamrová, Jitka (referee)
The aim of my work is to describe and compare changes in mortality according to classes of causes of death in the Czech Republic and selected European countries between 1994 - 2009. The work includes mortality characteristics of the Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Austria and Finland. The work is divided into three main parts. The first part describes terms related to mortality. The second part deals with the coding of causes of death, its history and origin. The third part is devoted to comparing mortality by cause of death, where the emphasis is on diseases of the circulatory system, malignant neoplasms and external causes.
