Bachelor thesis describes the specifics of nursing care for children with a nasogastric tube insertion. The survey drew from literature, observation and experience of nurses. It was managed in order to obtain exact information which is concerning the care of children with insertion of nasogastric tube. The work is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part deals with the care of the nasogastric tube from the beginning of the insertion to its extraction and also enteral nutrition, which is intended for the nasogastric tube application. The practical part has set as its first objective to find out the specifics of nursing care for children with nasogastric tube. The second objective has been to develop an educational leaflet for parents. To accomplish these goals, data was gathered by using qualitative analysis of the medical records of children with nasogastric tube insertion, observation and interviews with nurses. Two research files were formed where obtained information was confronted, sought consensus and specifics of nursing care consequently evaluated from these matches. Nasogastric tube care ranks among these specifics, whether in terms of throughput or the correct placing as well as skin care of the child in area of patch fixation and nasogastric tube. Appropriate nursing interventions were searched at the same time. They mostly focus on the process of feeding, caring for the tube, child care, education of parents and enteral nutrition. Finally, this work focused on the detection and prevention of the risks which threaten infant patients at nutrition in this way. Findings were summarized and processed in the leaflet intended as an information source for parents and the feedback on parental home nursing care, which in our opinion is lacking in many medical facilities.
