This bachelor thesis analyses questions of national identity in the works of the Hungarian emigration in the second half of the 20th century. It examines a phenomenon of a nation in the Hungarian literary context of the modern time. It creates a picture of the Hungarian literary emigration in the West, its literary centres and publication opportunities of its writers in the periodicals of the exile. In the main part it focuses on depiction of the theme of nation and emigration in the texts of four representative exile writers, specifically of Sándor Márai, Sandor Lénárd, György Faludy and Ágota Kristóf, by which it contributes to the basic research of the Hungarian exile prose in the Czech academic environment. Keywords: nation, national identity, emigration, Hungary, communism, Sándor Márai, Sándor Lénárd, György Faludy, Ágota Kristóf
