Srovnání metody horsemanshipu a anglického stylu ježdění
Smékalová, Kamila
The objective of the thesis entitled The Comparison of the Horsemanship Method and the English Riding Style is to characterise the horsemanship method and the English riding style on the basis of literature search, to describe and compare the two methods in the monitored groups of horses as regards the ground work, saddle breaking and under-saddle work, and to generally compare horsemanship and English riding. The literature review describes the characteristics, principles and recommended training practices for the two methods under comparison. The practical part of this thesis compares the two methods of horse training. A comparative report has been created as a supporting tool to assess the training of ten horses. The assessment and subsequent comparison were based on four aspects: the physical and the mental aspects of the horse, the rider's confidence in the horse, and time in order to consider all the factors involved in horse training. Furthermore, the thesis characterises the monitored horses and the training used, providing a comparison for each of the training stages – ground work, saddle breaking and work under saddle. The thesis concludes by providing a general comparison of the two horse training methods. Horsemanship showed better outcomes as regards the physical and the mental aspects of the horse as well as the rider’s confidence in the horse. On the contrary, the horses trained using the English riding style took less time to train. The biggest differences were observed in the early stages of training.
Vliv různých metod výcviku mladého koně na jeho pozdější výkonnost
Bednaříková, Aneta
The present thesis identifies various methods of training young horses for sports and the influence of these methods on the subsequent performance of horses. A prerequisite for a standard good-to-excellent stable performance is baseline training which the horse undergoes from a very early age. The thesis compares various training methods and the utilisation of a number of aids that influence the subsequent performance of sports horses. The theoretical part describes training from the viewpoint of several authors, highlighting differing opinions about the use of training aids depending on the personal preferences of each of them. The practical part features charts and tables prepared based on a questionnaire. It has not been possible to determine directly whether any training method affects the later performance of horses. The answers, however, clearly show that the performance of each horse is dependent on several factors, the main ones being the way the training is conducted (rather than a specific method), the inborn predisposition for sports, and the general attitude to the animal.
Příprava mladého koně pro sportovní výkonnost
Bednaříková, Aneta
This thesis is focusing on the training process of a young horse for the purpose of increasing its sporting performance skills. The paper is divided in 5 chapters depicting particular phases of the training process. First chapter is aiming to depict the basic principles of the training procedures of a young horse, concerning the sporting events of parkour, dressage and eventing. The purpose of the next chapter is to namely divide the particular training phases in the time period from the 2nd to the 5th year of the horses life, such as groundwork, longeing,), saddle break, fieldwork and dressage and jumping training in the riding hall. Third chapter is primarily describing particular contests and events designated for young horses in the Czech republic. The goal of the last chapter is to summarize the training principles of a young horse, comparing the findings of various authors and trainers of various horse sporting-events. In general the major asset of the thesis is the comparison of the general theorethical knowledge with the practical findings personally obtained.
Onemocnění pohybového aparátu u hříbat a mladých koní
Sedláková, Lenka
The thesis deals with diseases of muskuloskeletal systém of foals and young horses, concretly then osteochondrosis, flexural and angular deformities, tendon laxity and physitis. The method is based on case studies and evaluation questionnaire among horse breeders. On the basis of these data was determined preventive recommendations to farmers. Given that all these diseases are multifactorial in nature and their etiology is similar, are named as developmental orthopedic disease. The main causes are genetics, nutrition, exercise management and growth rate of the individuals who are directly related to the causes mentioned. Clinical symptoms vary widely depending on severity. Likewise therapy often is not needed, but may occur also to cases which are very important to today's intractable methods. The aim is to provide recommendations to farmers how to recognize the severity of the disease and how to avoid them.

Pokorná, Lucie ; Majzlík, Ivan (advisor) ; Hofmanová, Barbora (referee)
This work is focused on the topic of backing and training of horses. First chapter analyses learning process using positive and negative motivation during horse training. Second chapter focuses on handling, if it is beneficial, or not, for foal development process. Further more is in this chapter mentioned, if it is possible to affect future foal behaviour by handling with mother - mare and if intervention in first social contact between foal and mother has effect on future foal development. There are also stated different types of weaning and if it is possible to prevent stress in foald by well selected type of weaning. Third chapter is focused on natural communication with horse, on signals sent out by horse and if human is able to understand those signals and adjust communication by this. Fourth chapter is focused on work on lunge and its following effect on backing the horse. The work continues by following sixth chapter, where is described horse backing procedure by Beran (2009). This work is finished by horse approaches of Dillon (2012) and Beran (2009).
