Neuwirthová, Kateřina ; Šebková, Natálie (advisor) ; Angerová, Yvona (referee)
OF BACHELOR THESIS Author: Kateřina Neuwirthová Supervisor: MUDr. Natálie Šebková Title: Assessment of Peripheral Facial Nerve Palsy in Physiotherapy Abstract: This theoretical-practical thesis deals with assessment of peripheral facial nerve palsy in physiotherapy. The aim was to compare four selected assessing methods according to chosen criteria. Based on a literature research, the selected methods were three foreign clinical scales (House Brackmann Grading Scale, Sunnybrook Facial Grading System, Chuang's Smile Excursion Score) and the fourth scale was Janda's functional muscle test of the face. Theoretical part is devoted in detail to the neuroanatomy of the facial nerve, describes the mimetic muscles and their functions and outlines possible types of the peripheral nerve damage. It also discusses peripheral facial palsy itself, including epidemiology, symptoms, etiology, diagnostics and treatment. Some of the possible physiotherapy methods that can be used for this condition are mentioned as well. The conclusion of the theoretical part is reserved for the evaluation methods applicable in physiotherapy. The four clinical scales are explained in detail to aid understanding of the practical part. In the practical part, I worked with six patients with peripheral facial nerve palsy. I examined and...
Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient with Diagnosis peripheral facialis palsy
Leszkow, David ; Neuwirthová, Svatava (advisor) ; Hamouzová, Dita (referee)
Author: David Leszkow Title: Case study of physiotherapy care for patient diagnosed with peripheral facial palsy. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to write down theoretical basis related to the diagnosis of peripheral facial palsy. The second part of this thesis is case study of one patient with Bell's palsy. Methods: Soft tissue techniques, Jebavá's approach, Kenny's method, Kabat's method. Results: Patient's right facial side muscular strength improved and at the same time resting facial expressions were restored. There was an increase in the resting muscle tone of the right side, thus removing the lagophthalmos and the sagging corner of the mouth. Conclusion: Thanks to the use of the above methods, the patient was rehabilitated to almost full muscle strength and functionality of the right side of the face, at the rest and also with active muscle involvement. Keywords: Bell's palsy, treatment of peripheral palsy, facial palsy, facial nerve, case study, mimic muscles, physiotherapy

Case report of physiotherapy care for a patient with facial nervus peripheral palsy
Kubartová, Veronika ; Novotná, Irena (advisor) ; Hamouzová, Dita (referee)
The title of the thesis: Case report of physiotherapy care for a patient with facial nervus peripheral palsy The aim of the thesis: The aim is to get acquainted with theoretical knowledge on the issues and the development of case studies, including design and the course of therapy for a patient with a diagnosis of facial nervus peripheral palsy. Methodology and evaluation: The content of this thesis is to introduce theoretical knowledge of facial nervus peripheral palsy, its treatment and rehabilitation, namely with all available physiotherapy methods. The aim is to highlight the disease, which can only occur as a secondary condition to another disease. The theoretical part covers general knowledge of anatomy and etiology. Further clinical picture, prognosis, methods of examination and appropriate physiotherapy methods and procedures. The research is based on a case report of a patient with a diagnosis of facial nervus peripheral palsy and on applied therapy. Keywords: Facial nervus peripheral palsy, Bell's palsy, peripheral palsy, facial muscles, therapy of facial nervus peripheral, The Kenny Method
Cacuistry of pahysiotherapy care for a patient diagnosed with peripheral facial palsy
Berežná, Jana ; Kučerová, Ilona (advisor) ; Hrdličková, Svatava (referee)
Thesis title: Casuistry of physiotherapy care for a patient diagnosed with peripheral facial palsy Aim of the thesis: The aim of the thesis is to present theoretical information about the peripheral facial nerve palsy diagnosis. Further, the practical part of the thesis describes the use of chosen physiotherapeutic ways of the diagnosis treatment. Methods used: The theoretical part of the thesis presents anatomical context, clinical symptoms, ways of examination, treatment possibilities, including physiotherapy, and information about parotidectomy which may cause the peripheral nervus facialis palsy. The practical part of the thesis describes in detail the casuistry of the patient diagnosed with the peripheral nervus facialis palsy after operation of glandula parotis. Specifically, entrance clinical examination, short-term and long-term plan are made out, followed by records of nine therapy sessions and final output kinesiological analysis. Keywords: peripheral palsy, nervus facialis, adenom glandula parotis, Kenny Method, electrostimulation, kinesiotaping, mimic muscles

Title: Physiotherapeutic care for patient with nervus facialis paralysis case study Objectives: The goal of this thesis is to establish theoretical basis related to the given problem, recording of related therapeutic sessions, initial and final kinesiological analysis and evaluation of therapeutic results for the case recorded. Methods: We look up relevant theoretical work related to facial nerves and muscles. We summarize known methods of approaching the problem. Practical section describes general cause peripheral paralysis of nervus facialis case study. There is an initial kinesiological analysis in this section, short term as well as a long term physiotherapeutic plan and recording of ten sessions with the patient along with final kinesiological analysis.
