Design of a micro waterpower turbines for low head and low dicharge

This diploma thesis discusses the issue of finding type of water turbine for very low heads and low discharges, which could be operated as mobile micro hydropower plant in island mode. Thesis deals with summary of appropriate choices of water turbine for needs of micro hydropower plant. Essential part of diploma thesis deals with design of optimized waterwheel. Waterwheel was chosen because commercial high-speed turbines have low efficiency for low heads. Waterwheel was manufactured and measured in laboratories of Fluid engineering. Measurement output was discharge and efficiency characteristic of turbine. The price calculation was made after manufacture.

Discussion of research priorities of socio-economic determinants of obesity

This work follows the studies focused on obesity, its global extent and its serious health and economic impact. At the same time, the work examines the unsuccessful fight of public policies which try to reverse growing prevalence of obesity. Nevertheless, the main goal of the thesis is a discussion about priorities of new orientation in the research on the causes of the obesity epidemic and effectiveness of precautions that were taken in many countries and international organizations with the main aim to stop the obesity and its consequences. The discussion leads to the more detailed description of the problems connected with obesity, for instance, environmental aspects, housing culture in relation to physical activities, lifestyle in relation to advertisement/marketing, psychological and socio- psychological aspects, combating stress, etc. My intention was to find out utility of contemporary research on obesity for setting of policy fighting against obesity. At the same time, I wanted to find out other possible directions in the research into this field and discover how the discussion about priorities of the research in the experimental community proceeds. The role of culture in the development of rural areas

Thesis deals with the role of culture in the development of rural areas. From the definition of basic concepts that the countryside and culture are inextricably linked, through the most important historical moments that country in the past have influenced the development of its current and perception, the author gets to the very communities of South Bohemia, specifically to region Zlaty vrch. On the specific communities is shown whether the country still respect the customs and traditions or whether are the traditional folk crafts stil current. Work monitors the number and importance of tangible cultural heritage in communities and there is a proposal for appropriate funding. The author carried out a survey in selected municipalities region Zlaty vrch, from which are in the end of the work made results and draw subsequent conclusion.
