KOLÁŘÍKOVÁ, Aneta
The presented bachelor thesis describes drug addiction and its effect on clients in the therapeutic community of Karlov. This bachelor thesis aims to examine the motivation of said clients to start their treatment provided by the therapeutic community of Karlov. Furthermore, this bachelor thesis also discusses the possibility of the motivation to start the treatment being influenced by the types of drugs used by the clients. Lastly, the overall functioning of the therapeutic community is also described in detail within this thesis. This bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part focuses on various addictive substances and their categorization. The theoretical part also describes the treatment concerning the abuse of such addictive substances, the motivation that leads to treatment and the methods used by social workers. The theoretical part concludes with the description of Karlov's therapeutic community characteristics. The practical part was conducted following the qualitative research strategy, which included the use of semistructured interviews. The sample for the semistructured interviews consists of clients of the Karlov therapeutic community. In the empirical part of the work, it was found that to join the therapeutic community Karlov, even though each client was motivated by various reasons, they began to solve their situation only when they began to lose the last thing that was important to them. Furthermore, it was found that clients began to experience drugs at a very young age and the problems associated with this addiction did not come until many years later, when the drug changed the original scale of life values for all respondents and completely disrupted personal relationships. This bachelor thesis provides insight into the issues associated with addictive substances and their subsequent treatment performed in the Karlov therapeutic community. The results of the research conducted in this bachelor thesis could be used by the Karlov therapeutic community as a basis for an improvement of their current practices.

Social workers´ experiences with social work oriented to foreigners in South Bohemian region among selected institutions
JEŽKOVÁ, Jana
The bachelor's thesis focuses on social workers' experience with social work oriented to foreigners in the South Bohemian Region among selected institutions. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part describes the system of protection of foreigners in the Czech Republic, categories of foreigners and types of residence of foreigners in the Czech Republic, as well as valid laws on foreigners in the Czech Republic. The essential part of the theoretical section also includes the specifics of the social work with foreigners. These include for example the competences of a social worker in social work oriented towards foreigners, sociocultural specifics or selected methods and techniques of social work specified to foreigners. The practical part deals with the research, that was realized with the usage of qualitative research strategy and method of questioning carried out in the form of an interview. Interviews were carried out with the social workers and with the workers in social services from selected organizations in South Bohemia, that provide social services for foreigners according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services, as amended. There were defined two research aims for the research purposes. The first aim was to find out what experience social workers have with the foreigners regarding the practice of their profession, the second aim was to identify how they are prepared for this work according to the subjective evaluation (in the following areas: methods and techniques of social work; legal knowledge; sociocultural specifics of minorities, immigrants, and foreigners granted asylum; etc.). Following these aims, one research question was specified: How are social workers equipped with methods and techniques of social work specified to foreigners? The data obtained from the research was analyzed manually using by "pencil and paper" and the results, of the analysis, were entered into several diagrams, that were created in the computer program Draw.io. The analysis of the research results showed, that the social workers have both, positive and negative experience with the social work, oriented towards foreigners, while positive experience relates to the evaluation of social work with the foreigners as such. The biggest difficulties in social work oriented towards foreigners are social workers' language barrier or insufficient orientation in law on foreigners. Social workers have to often turn to other experts in these areas. The research also showed, that the social workers assessed their preparedness in the methods and techniques of social work specified to foreigners as sufficient, even though in most cases they did not mention any of the specific methods and techniques of this social work (such as intercultural communication; empowerment; networking; coaching; combating discrimination; social work with traumatized refugees; etc.). In this sense, they rather talked about general methods and techniques or about some theoretical approaches of social work, which they also apply in social work with foreigners. The results of this bachelor's thesis can be used as a motive to stimulate the reflections of the governmental and non-governmental sector on the need to improve the professional readiness of social workers in social work, oriented towards foreigners, but also as a valuable basis for the implementation of follow-up and deeper research on the issue.
Communication of social workers with children.
VIKTOROVÁ, Romana
Presented diploma thesis deals with the problematics of communication between the social workers and the children or adolescents. The first three chapters introduce theoretical starting points serving as the base for the following research. Attention is paid to the characteristics of social work, including its legislative definition and methods and techniques with regard to their use in contact with the child's client. The thesis also brings forward the role of the social worker. Briefly, the specifications of the child's age, that are to be taken into account in terms of social work, are addressed - mainly attachment issues and developmental aspects. The fourth chapter is spent on description of the survey involving 19 social workers from the South Bohemian Region. The survey showed, the social workers are familiar with the principles of social work with the children and adolescents and they are careful to follow them in practice. In communication with the children and adolescents they focus mainly on non-verbal communication, recognizing the difference between a child and an adolescent. Due to the respondents, the most important is the social worker's authenticity, the creation and maintenance of secure relationship and the consistency of verbal and non-verbal communication. Unfortunately, the social workers are mostly not interested in expanding their competencies in connection with the acquisition of new social work techniques suitable for communication with the children and adolescents.
