Practicing Nurses' View Of Nursing Students In The Context Of Clinical Practicum

Irreplaceable role in preparing students for the future careers have nurses, who are accompanies their future colleagues during the teaching of nursing procedures and in adopting a role of nurse. The bachelor work deals with evaluations of qualified nurses of nursing students in the context of clinical practice. The basic research target is the expectation of the qualified nurses to the nursing students. There are sectional research targets and questions, which maps the strategies, which qualified nurses use for easier collaborate with nursing students in the context of nursing practice; identified nurse's ways and areas, which they used for evaluation of nursing students; analysed the nurse's opinion for independence of nursing students; evaluated the reaction of nurses for innovation, which are the part of the lessons of nursing students; analysed competence and characteristics, which nurses assume for their ideal of "good nurse". The research was based on a qualitative approach. The data were collected by using focus group. The research sample was based on combination of purpose and simple random selection method by using snowball. The role of preceptor nurse in the transition period at the selected workplace

Introduction: A nurse preceptorship is essential in the transition period (TP) of novice nurses. Especially in intensive care workplaces, where training for highly specialized and demanding care is provided. TP thus becomes a sensitive period in which the employee decides whether to remain in the workplace or even in the profession. Methodology: This is qualitative study with the main focus of the survey on the specific experience of preceptors with TP management. Data collection was performed using semi-structured interviews with preceptor nurses in one selected workplace of intensive care. Data analysis was performed in 4 steps, open coding and sorting of data into categories and subcategories were used. Results: Six main topics were identified: Preceptors' experience from their own transition, TP organization attributes, Evaluation and feedback, The role of the preceptor nurse, Critical moments and Factors influencing the TP. The experience of trainers from their own TP is a significant predictor for their individual way of training and leading novice nurses. Evaluation and feedback have a culture and should be performed regularly in cycles to achieve the purpose. Possibilities of improving practical teaching students of the first year General Nursing before first contact with the patient on the first practical training.

The diploma work is focused on students of first year General Nurse who do not have medical high school education. These students during the preparation have to be familiar with significant amount of specialized curriculum before their first professional practice. The work investigated how this demanding preparation could be improved. The research showed that these students would welcome such optional course focused on practical training of nursing skills. This optional subject could result in a reduction of negative feelings from the first professional practice.
