The issues in care of mentally affected children in the families of senescent or old parents.
NOVÁKOVÁ, Ivona
The subject of my Bachelor work is Issues Related to Care of Mentally Affected Children in Families of Aging and Old Parents. The purpose of my research was to find out what problems related to care of mentally affected people experience aging and old parents, followed by comparisons of how they perceive their situation. Another objective is to find possible solutions of their problems. In order to achieve these objectives three hypothesis were brought up on the basis of which qualitative research by moderated interview method has been chosen. The interview included in total six questions asked to five families. My respondents were parents of mentally affected children. The questions were designed to find out how parents of mentally affected children perceive this situation and how they have secured their situation for the future. Interviews were conducted in home environment or in institutes for mentally affected people. Based on consent of my respondents I have recorded the interviews on a Dictaphone and analyzed them later. The research results confirmed my hypothesis. The fist hypothesis included assumption that care of mentally affected person is a live long care. All involved families face problems how to secure care for their child in the future. The second hypothesis assumed that care of a mentally affected person becomes more difficult and less manageable for an aging person. This hypothesis has been confirmed by one of my respondents. The related third hypothesis assumed that in families with mentally affected child where parents are aging roles are distributed among parents and the mentally affected person, while the mentally affected individual assumes and performs physical tasks and parents do the mental work. All three hypotheses have been confirmed.

The goal of this project was to test intervention program of locomotion for mentally affected children. Testing took place in a Special Care Institute in Blatná. The experimental group actively participated in the experiment. Standardized locomocy tests were used to evaluate the effect of the program on the children. Both groups were measured at the beginning and at the end of the task. Gained numerical values were statistically evaluated. The evaluation showed improvement for the experimental group.
