Validity of the VO2 Master Pro device for maximal oxygen consumption prediction and the measurement of resting metabolism

Measurements of maximal oxygen uptake and resting metabolic rate are one of the most important things in testing athletes and madical patients. For these measurements are used breath analyzers. These analyzers are usually non-portable costly devices. VO2 Master Pro is on the other hand portable breath analyzer with much lower prize. It is biggest disadvantage is that it contains only O2 sensor and not CO2 sensor as madically aproved devices. Aim of this study is to determinate validity and difference of measurements between VO2 Master Pro and reference device for measuring maximal oxygen uptake and resting metabolic rate. Difference for measuring maximal oxygen uptake was 4,15 ± 4,41 %. For measuring of resting metabolic rate difference was 41,20 ± 11,44 %. For measuring of maximal oxygen uptake is VO2 Master Pro valid but for measuring of resting metabolic rate it is not. It was also confirmed, that size of measured value have non-linear corelation with size of difference in measuring maximal oxygen uptake.

Function of systemic right ventricle after atrial correction of transposition of great arteries - longitudinal follow-up and impact on exercise capacity Abstract Maximal oxygen uptake during cardiopulmonary exercise test determines decision about pregnancy, therapeutic measures and timing of surgery and heart transplantation. Atrial correction of transposition of great arteries places right ventricle in the systemic positon. The aim of our work was to assess relation of parameters of function of systemic right ventricle to maximal oxygen uptake. 86 patients after Senning correction were subjected to testing of NYHA class, blood tests of NT-proBNP, Holter monitoring and cardiopulmonary exercise test. Systolic function of right ventricle was assessed semiquantitatively by echocardiography and precisely calculated by heart MRI. Maximal oxygen uptake was not associated with NYHA, NT-proBNP nor systolic function of systemic right and subpulmonary left ventricles. The only parameter associated with VO2max was heart rate reserve. Title Analysis of the endurance indicators in selected tests in relation to continuous and intermittent loading Objectives The aim of this study was to examine the accuracy of the prediction formulas for indirect estimation VO2max from performances in the field tests. The criterion for comparing estimated values were results from laboratory spiroergometry test. Methods Ten physically active males (24,5 ± 2,5 years, 179,5 ± 6,2 cm, 75,8 ± 4,9 kg, BMI 23,5 ± 1,3 kg/m2 ) performed four different test sessions. Laboratory treadmill test was used for the direct measurement of the maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) and three field tests for indirect estimation of the VO2max (Cooper test, Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 1 and 2). All the performances from field tests were calculated using prediction formulas. Results Directly measured values of VO2max during laboratory testing were in average 58,24 ± 2,77 ml.kg-1 .min-1 . Indirectly estimated values of VO2max from performances in the Cooper test were in average 61,15 ± 3,73 ml.kg-1 .min-1 , in Yo-Yo IRT1 52,46 ± 2,51 ml.kg-1 .min-1 and in Yo-Yo IRT2 53,19 ± 1,56 ml.kg-1 .min-1 .
