Censorship as a political instrument for defending the republic

Bachelor thesis concerns the censorship of the press in czech language in first Czechoslovak republic. It focuses on the period in the beginning of 1930s, when the censorship grows in intensity against the press of anti-system parties - fascist and communist sheets. Thesis follows the development of press law to 1933, when efforts of economic and political stability culminated. And also because of the so-called small press law, which was adopted by government in July 1933, the censorship was stricter and many periodicals was stopped. Censorship measures was in conflict with the democratic idea of the state, but limites of its using and the times of anti-democratic dangers became its defense and the crisis lead to the rise of the "militant democracy".
