Urban vegetation - temporal analysis of urban vegetation impact on local climate using remote sensing
PAVLÍČKOVÁ, Lenka
The urban heat island (UHI) is a phenomenon of noticeably higher temperatures in the cities as compared to their respective surrounding areas. This thesis aims at characterizing the influence of city expansion to the urban heat island phenomenon. The study is carried out in a city of Caceres in the Spanish province of the same name. A model input data is obtained with Landsat multispectral images. The analysis of satellite images shows that functional vegetation cover and water surfaces help in mitigating urban heat island effect. However, the Caceres city expansion does not influence the urban heat island intensity. A possible explanation for it is as the city expanded the ratio of vegetation to dry land remains constant in time.
Design of urban area using advanced technologies
Špaček, Jan ; Apeltauer, Tomáš (referee) ; Remeš, Josef (advisor)
This thesis focuses on the design of urban areas in regards of the air flow and the creation of Urban Heat Islands. It reviews basic aspects influencing the design of streets. Every building, tree, or obstacle obstructs the air flow and creates the wind shadow, where the air pollution increases. It also creates areas of higher wind speed, in which public comfort is reduced. By understanding the importance of this process and by implementing it into the urban planning process, using advanced technology we can create healthy urban environment.
Vývoj a prostorová distribuce povrchových teplot v Českých Budějovicích a okolí
KOTTOVÁ, Šárka
The aim of this study was to detect surface temperature changes in the České Budějovice during last 30 years. The aim was also to asses the influence of vegetation on the surface temperature. The study is based on the thermal data acquired by the Landsat TM 4 and 5 and the study site was in the České Budějovice and surroundings.
Added value of green roofs
Hrachovina, Vojtěch ; Žák,, Antonín (referee) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
Introduction is focused on analyze green roof like a part of buiding construction, when thesis assembly principles of right proposal green roof layers. Main part describes characteristic properties green roofs at global impact. We get some added values after comparison with classic roof types. Master thesis consists of survey of added values of green roofs in these categories: life cycle assessment, microclima, outdoor climate, water retention. End of thesis devote to psychological effect of green roofs include questionnare about relationship between czech society and green roofs.
Vliv stromů v městském prostředí na kvalitu ovzduší a teplotu okolí
Bajarová, Marta
Urban areas are beside other factors specific by its climate. The character of surfaces, which are in cities, contribute to formation of so called "urban heat island" -- especially in summer months cities are warmer than surrounding areas. Long lasting high temperatures have negative impact on human health. That is why the aim of this work was to find out what effects trees can have on the temperature of urban air and consequently on human health. The temperature was measured at four different locations: in the open area in a forest, in a small park, in a small alley and at a parking lot. The measurements have shown that the trees reduce air temperature and by that they contribute to the thermal comfort of the population. The positive impacts, which trees can bring to human health is the ability to reduce amount of solar radiation, to reduce air pollution and noise level. Trees also produce so called "biotically active substances". On the other hand, negative influence of the trees which should be considered, is pollen production, which may cause allergies for pollen sensitive individuals. In general, for human health the presence of trees in the urban areas is mostly positive.
