Autor: Kateřina Carbová Title: The case study of a physiotherapeutical treatment of a patient after lateral patellar dislocation Objective: The aim of this thesis was to elaborate report on a patient after lateral dislocation of the patella, a summary of theoretical knowledge, design of appropriate therapy and then continuously monitoring its progress. Summary: This thesis consists of two parts, a general and a special part. In the general section summarizes theoretical findings terms of anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics of the knee joint. There is also mention examination of the knee joint and subsequent therapy. A special section will contain the actual report on a patient after knee arthroscopy and surgery according to Madigan, course of treatment and evaluation of its effect. Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after lateral patellar disclocation
Pilný, Petr ; Nechvátalová, Vendula (advisor) ; Mahr, Edwin (referee)
Author: Petr Pilný Title: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after lateral patellar disclocation Aim: Aim of this bachelor's thesis was to write up a report on a patient after latelar disclocation of the patella, summarizing theoretical knowledge, devising proper treatment, observing patient over the course of treatment and rating it's efectivness. Methods: This bachelor's thesis consists of two parts, a general part and a special part. The general part summarizes theoretical knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanice of the knee joint. It also includes examinations of the knee joint and subsequent therapy. The special part consists of the case study of a patient after Madigan surgery and knee arthroscopy, course of treatment and evaluating it's effect. Results: Due to the therapy, the patient's medical state improved, the effect of the therapy is particularly recognizable in walking stereotype, in which the patient almost completely eliminated any formed pathologies and ceased using all walking aid, and in the range of movement of patient's knee joint. Therapy is considered successful. Conclusion: All of the set goals were accomplished during the therapy and the therapy's successfulness therefore proved efficiency of the used methods. Developmental and traumatic diseases of the knee joint in dog.
Špatenková, Dana ; Karlasová, Barbora (advisor) ; Stanislav, Stanislav (referee)
Patellar luxation is a condition subject to heredity. It varies in gravity depending on its clinical grade and on the duration of luxation. Patellar luxation may be medial which is more common type and lateral which is less common. Often the only way to sustain a comfort of a dog patient and its normal use of a hind limb is surgical management. Considering a hereditary and congenital aspect of patellar luxation we see that it is an important breeding problem and some measures should be taken to stop its spread in breeds. The cranial cruciate ligament rupture is mostly traumatic in origin and affects especially large and giant breed dogs although all breeds may be affected. In the lower percentage of cases there is possible a degenerative origin of the disease. There is a higher prevalence of the disease in older and less active dogs. After a diagnosis of a LCC rupture surgical intervention should be implied and performed as soon as possible to put an end to the progress of arthrotic changes and to sustain the patients comfort. This master thesis was also concerned with original research examining 23 dogs with patellar luxation or LCC rupture, two dogs of these afflicted with both. Hypotheses of the thesis introduction have been mostly confirmed, LCC rupture afflicted especially overweight or obese individuals (56%), predominant affliction of females has been also confirmed (56%), partly also increased affliction of neutered animals (25% females, 6% males). Medial patellar luxation is distinctively more common than lateral one, the hypothesis has been confirmed, medial patellar luxation afflicted 100% of the dogs. Medial patellar luxation affects mostly small and miniature breeds, the hypothesis has been confirmed, all examined dogs were of small or miniature breed (100%).
Dysplasia and locomotive organs diseases by dogs
KOHOUTOVÁ, Lenka
In my bachelor paper, I describe some of the genetically determined diseases of the musculoskeletal system of dogs. These orthopedic diseases include hip and elbow dysplasia, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease and patellar luxation. They represent a significant risk in breeding practise. They are influenced by genetic and environmental factors (size and body weight, nutrition, etc.). Each of these diseases are painful for dogs. These diseases are inherited polygenic. Expression of the trait is controlled by multiple genes. Heritability coefficient is in the low to medium values, but for hip dysplasia can be up to 0,8. Breeder of affected animals can choose between conservative or surgical treatment. Because these are hereditary diseases, should be given the attention to selective programs.
