Work-Life Balance

The diploma work addresses the Work-Life Balance concept and identifies the various tools that can help to successfully balance work and personal life. Alternative work arrangements and the actual implementation in the Czech Republic and abroad are introduced. It focuses on the availability of child care facilities, maternity and parental leave and on the reintegration of parents into the work process. The analytical part examines the extent of the support offered by financial institutions for the harmonization of work and personal life. Programmes from selected institutions are presented as well as an analysis of employee job satisfaction in these companies conducted via a survey.

Car driver's behavior as a way of valuing human life

Evaluation of human life is question not only for health care system, but it's possible to demonstrate it in everyday situations as car driving. Observing the car driving, it's possible to get know what relationships people have to risk, time preference and how they invest in their health. It is measurable by different methods of evaluation of human life. Besides the individual evaluation of human life, this paper considers road behavior of people on country levels. Regression analysis describes which variables influence number of traffic fatalities. These fatalities are clarified by private investments to health and safety. On the contrary, government spending and politics have not such influence.

It pays to mandatory investment in the fire extinguishers in Czech republic?

This paper attempts to explain the implications of regulation File 23/2008 regarding the mandatory installation of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in new residential buildings built from 2009. The point of this regulation should be to decrease damage and increase the value of property and lives saved during fires. Therefore, the main hypothesis is the value of apartments and houses saved increases while damage decreases. I have verified this hypothesis by helpful calculations (comparing the overall as well as the individual amount of fires to apartments and homes in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. Comparing the amount of damage with the value saved in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic towards GDP. The calculation of mandatory investment into equipment, the calculation of the likelihood of fires taking place and the likelihood of death and the calculation of the value of life and adding it to the overall values). With the aid of obtained information, I did not dismiss the main hypothesis because the majority of helpful calculations confirmed assumptions of the main hypothesis.

Life goals and values of persons with disabilities

Topic of the thesis is to clarify the aims of living and values of the handicapped people. In the theoretical part the work deals with definitions of the basic terms related to a corporal defect, course and model of crisis as a radical change regarding physical image of human being, it highlights the main crisis starter, thus stress, and emphasizes the factors which have the greatest effect on mental state of the handicapped patient. Also, this work refers to sources of one{\crq}s reason for living, right to life and possibilities of social assistance for the handicapped. The empirical part is focused to find out in what extent the handicapped people experience their life as a meaningful, in what extent they are satisfied with their life and what values they prefer.

Public opinion about foeticide and euthanasia

In May survey Public Opinion Research Center focused on public opinions of women´s right to decide herself to end her pregnancy. Within the survey people also have been expressing their sentiment about acceptability or unacceptability of euthanasia. As a part of this press information there were answers sorted according to socio-demographic indicators and table with data from previous surveys.
