Individuals with mental disabilities serving a prison sentence

The diploma thesis focuses on the issue of criminality of persons with mental disabilities and specifically the thesis discusses individuals with mental disabilities serving a prison sentence. Due to the fact that this issue has not been sufficiently processed so far and it is still a neglected topic, the aim of the work is not only to approach this issue, but also to find out how the prison system aimed at this target group works and how special education services is provided to convicts with mental disabilities. The diploma thesis also discusses the effectiveness of the methods used, whether the activities of the treatment program for convicts with mental disabilities can contribute to preventing or limiting the occurrence of recidivism. The theoretical part is focused on terminology and the explanation of basic concepts that are closely related to this issue and the practical part is devoted to research that was carried out as part of a professional internship in Vinařice Prison and Stráž pod Ralskem Prison. This is qualitative research, which is carried out in the form of a case study of the two mentioned prisons, specifically specialized departments to serving a prison sentence while data obtained from interviews with employees were used, which were supplemented with findings from observations and provided materials. Based on the results of the research, recommendations were drawn up to ensure the prevention of crime among people with mental disabilities.
Family and ways of prevention of socially deviant behavior among youth

The thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part consists of four chapters, empirical investigation, the practical part.Chapter one focuses on the notion of family and its importance. Except for clarification of the concept are described the basic characteristics of the family now, basic functions of the family and educational styles. Conclusion of the firts chapter looks at the family as a potential risk factor of development and socio-pathological behavior in children and adolescents. The second chapter explains the basic concepts of social deviance and social pathology and describes the main causes of social pathologies. The third chapter describes the various social pathologies, which pose the greatest risk for the age group of children and adolescents. There are described in more detail: dependence on psychoactive substances, aggression and violence, vandalism, bullying, cyber crime and delinquency and pathological gambling. The fourth chapter is devoted to prevention, especially for a preventive action in the family. Practical part is an empirical investigation, in which the case study of ten children and adolescents who have committed some form of pathological behavior.
