Expert knowledge of polical parties in field of education policy
Stanzel, Jiří ; Novotný, Vilém (advisor) ; Mouralová, Magdalena (referee)
Political parties are no more simply mediators between the civic society and state. It is also expected, that they are capable to product such solutions, that are based on expert knowledge and could be applied responsibly. The educational policy is one of the traditional parts of public policy, which requires complex and long-term solutions. The sources of expertise of political parties play a key role in form of knowledge and information required for such responsible decisions. Many remits same as financing of primary and secondary education were delegated from state control to regional administration due to administrational reform. The increase of power assumes expansion of expertise of political parties on regional level. The paper is focused on sources of expert knowledge of political parties (ČSSD, KSČM, TOP 09) in Prague. It describes mechanisms of generating expert knowledge for educational policy, mostly the character and nature of work of regional expert commissions. Who are the members of these commissions? What is their source of being experts? What kinds of information they work with? How is their work applied in a practice? These are the main questions of this study.

Evaluation of efficiency of selected regional branches of CSO
Tykvart, Pavel ; Houška, Milan (advisor) ; Hana, Hana (referee)
In today's dynamically changing times, the main objective of organizations operating in the private and public sphere is efficiency maximizing. This thesis has been based on this assumption. The main aim of this work is to provide on the specific case an evaluation of the efficiency by using methods of multiple-criteria decision-making in the public sector. The rating of individual regional offices of the Czech Statistical Office, substantially participating in data collecting by performing statistical surveys, is presented in this work, using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis. The thesis can be divided into two parts. The first part deals with the theoretical preparation. This part describes the basic terms connected with the topic of the effectiveness evaluation and a theoretical description of the method the processing is based on. The second part describes the processing itself. At the beginning of this part, there is a brief overview of the activities of the Czech Statistical Office, which is followed by an overview of the statistical survey areas. Then, based on selected inputs and outputs, the efficiency is evaluated.
The role of micro finance Institutions in poverty reduction in the central region of Ghana
Cudjoe, Bismark
The overall objective of this study is to examine the contribution of micro-finance institutions to poverty reduction in the Kasoa district of the Central Region of Ghana. In an attempt to achieve the objective of the study, data and hypotheses were drawn from First Capital Plus Microfinance Limited which has been operating in the Kasoa Municipality since 2009. The practical part contains primary statistical data through survey research, which consists of a combination of structured questionnaires, interviews, focus group, and participatory methods to collect qualitative data from program beneficiaries and MFI's institutions. Wellbeing variables such as women empowerment, household assets , savings mobilising, household income, start-up capital and business development were used as benchmark variables to investigate the contribution of microfinance institutions to poverty reduction in the Kasoa district area. The study also made use of secondary data to reinforce theoretical arguments on micro-finance and poverty reduction. The results emanated from the administered questionnaires, interviews and participatory approach reveals a favourable relationship between micro-finance and the benchmark variables as a sizeable number of the program beneficiaries attested to a certain level of improvement in their living conditions upon joining the micro-finance program. However, in as much as the positive effects the study also witnesses some challenges inhibiting the growth of micro-finance institutions in the area such as institutional challenges, dishonest staff and beneficiaries, interest rate, markets and infrastructure linkages which, if it is well addressed by policy makers, micro-finance will contribute meaningfully in the fight to reduce global poverty not only in Ghana but also many less developed countries (LDCs).
