Predikace druhového složení těžeben na základě biotopového mapování okolní krajiny: využití charakteristických druhů vyšších rostlin
SLABA, Michal
The surrounding habitats play an important role in the spontaneous vegetation succession in disturbed sites. They serve as donor sites for species colonizing various post-mining sites from the close surrounding. This diploma thesis deals with the species composition in post-mining sites and the surrounding habitats up to the 1 km distance from the locality. The results indicate, that basalt quarries share the largest amount of species with their surrounding habitats. The studied methods have got limited capability to predict the species composition of post-mining sites using only the knowledge about habitat types occurred in the surrounding. On the other hand, species composition of the surrounding habitats, defined by a selection of the representative relevés of the Czech National Phytosociological Database (CNFD), seems to be more promising approach. It could provide more precise results applied in ecological restoration of post-mining sites in the Czech Republic.
The potential of natural succession in restoration of abandoned quarry on the example of the quarry Smrci
Petrů, Anna ; Frouz, Jan (advisor) ; Matějíček, Luboš (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the role of spontaneous succession in restoration ecology of sites damaged by mining. I briefly introduce its positive and negative aspects. The main purpose of my thesis is to summarize the knowledge of spontaneous succession in different types of quarries, especially as far as plant vegetation is concerned. This knowledge is applied in my study of the basalt quarry Smrci in which I attempt to assess the potential of natural succession on sites left to spontaneous succession based on my research.
Vliv těžby kamene na krajinu a kvalitu života v Dolních Kounicích
Šífová, Jana
The thesis describes the history and present of the city Dolni Kounice, and deals with the historical development of the quarry in this city. It also presents mining activities in South Moravia, and in the Czech Republic as in the country. The aim of this thesis is to determine the perception of the quarry in Dolni Kounice by residents and tourists. It focuses on the analysis of the landscape of Dolni Kounice due to quarrying, and its impact on local residents and visitors. The object of the study investigation is population in the range 18-65 years or more, and this group is further divided into groups of visitors and permanent residents. The analysis results of a questionnaire survey are summarized in the discussion and thesis conclusion.
Aplikace technických materiálů a tvrdokovů u štípacích břitů na přírodní kámen
Hejzlar, Samuel
The diploma thesis is focused an the field of stone splitting and especially the splitting tools of hydraulic splitting machines, a splitting knife, thanks to which the stone is split. The first part describes the base material used for knife splitting production. Both types of steel and cemented carbides are described below. Followed by introduction of stone splitting and methods of stone extraction. This part is closed by an overview of products made of splited stone. The experimental part deals with measurements, which was aimed on demonstraion of the impact on the used materials and on the lifetime of the splitting knife. Also on the influence of the knives edge and the quality of the final product. The characteristics of the stone, used in the measurements, were subjected to tests, which were carried out in the Hořice test facility and the results are ilustrated in the graphs. In the thesis is also described the operation of the Sumrakov quarry from where the measured tools are. Also stone splitting machines ,manufactured by Gestra CZ s.r.o., have been thoroughly analyzed.

Significance of quarries for the conservation purposes of Central European spider \kur{Eresus} spp.
BLAŽKOVÁ, Zuzana
Selected quarries and adjacent areas of xerophilous grassland in Bohemian karst were examined for the presence of velvet spider burrows. Selected microhabitat valuables were collected and their significance for ladybird spider analyzed.
Sukcese lesních společenstev v lomech na granit a mramor
Madaj, René
This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of initial soils of representative sites of selected quarries in the northern Moravia. All sites and independent initial soils formed on different soil-forming substrates and presented results deals with impact of chemically different substrate on the settlement of pioneer tree species. Three model granite quarries were selected (Žulový vrch, Arcibiskupský lom, Vycpálkův lom) , and also three marble quarries (Vápenná, Horní Lipová -- Smrčník, Supíkovice) were selected to compare different lithologies and evolution of chemically different initial soils. All representative locations for soil sampling and additionala laboratory analysis of selected physical properties of soils were done to compare different soil conditions on the different parental rocks. XRF spectrometer was used to determine major macroelements (Si, Ca, Al). Distinct differences were observed in the natural vegetation and trees colonization during phytosociological survey, depending on different chemistry of parental rock and initial soils.
The Health Risks Analysis in the Workplace of Stone Quarries, Measure and Evaluation
STODOLOVSKÁ, Květa
The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the work environment of quarries. Four research questions were asked: What factors can be determined in the working environment of quarries? Are hygienic limits of the monitored factors in the work environment of quarries respected? What measures to protect the health of workers in the quarries are applied by the employers? Are the proposed measures to protect employees' health effective? The bachelor thesis was conducted as qualitative research. Conditions in two quarries in the South Bohemian Region were studied. For data collection, the technique of direct, disinterested and obvious observation, the study of professional literature, legislation, trial protocols and the findings obtained from interviews with managers were used. The data were processed by content analysis. In the theoretical part, I focused on individual risk factors in the work environment of quarries and on health risk assessment. In the practical part, I compared the measurement results with the health limits set out in Government Regulation No. 361/2007 Coll. laying down the conditions of health protection in the workplace, as amended, and in Government Regulation No. 272/2011 Coll. that lays down hygienic limits of noise and vibration. Individual professions were categorized according to Decree No. 432/2003 Coll., as amended. The factors assessed in the work environment of quarries were quarry dust, total and hand-transmitted vibrations, noise and physical strain. The lowest rated factors include dust and total vibrations. Hygienic limits were not always observed, and thus the employer is obliged to take measures to protect the health of employees. The most important step in the development of quarries is the purchase of new, modern machines and the overall modernization of production, resulting in reduction of the workers´ exposure to risk factors.
