The influence of biochar on physico-chemical properties of soil
Polášková, Nikola ; Sedláček, Petr (referee) ; Smilek, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis is focused on assessment of the influence of biochar on the soil physico-chemical properties (particle density, dry density, porosity, water retention capacity and maximum water holding capacity, oxidizable carbon content, total nitrogen content, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium content). The selected and examined soil types were: cambisol, fluvisol, chernozem and regosol. There were two types of biochar used for analysis – NovoTerra and Sonnenerde. Soil samples were dried to constant weight and adjusted to grain-size fraction under 2 mm, respectively 0,25 mm. The oxidizable carbon content was measured by oxidation using a mixture of potassium dichromate and sulphuric acid (Walkley-Black method), the total nitrogen content was measured by kjeldahlization and P, K and Mg content was measured using Mehlich 3 extraction and ICP-OES spectrometer. The results show that biochar has a significant influence on soil characteristics depending on the type of biochar and soil we use for biochar application. This thesis can be used to clarify the complex issues in terms of soil in Czech Republic or it can be used by farmers considering using biochar as a soil additive with the intention to increase productivity and fertility of soil.
Vliv mineralogického složení na vybrané půdní vlastnosti
Plačková, Iva
Diploma thesis was focused on comparison of physical and chemical soil properties and their mineralogical composition. Object of study were -- Haplic Cambisol (Malonty), Haplic Cambisol (Vatín), Haplic Chernozem (Bratčice), Calcaric Chernozem (Velešovice) and Haplic Luvisol (Lesonice). Results showed that the highest minerals content was in Chernozems. Statistically significant differences were found in clay content, nu-trient content, soil reaction and cation exchange capacity in selected soil types.
Dynamika půdního stavu během vegetačního období
Trnka, Tomáš
The bachelor thesis focuses on the dynamics of the soil condition of the land during growing season. The object of the study was a cambium in the cadastral area of Šeborov (district Žďár nad Sázavou). In this work we assessed selected soil properties. The stability of soil aggregates, bulk density, porosity, maximum capillary water capacity, minimum air capacity, soil moisture, soil reactions and organic carbon content were evaluated. The stability of soil aggregates showed statistically significant differences, as did moisture. The agroecological limits were not exceeded for bulk density or porosity during the entire vegetation period. Maximum capillary capacity values ranged from 20 % to 30 % during the growing season. The values of the minimum air capacity exceeded a satisfactory value of 15–20 % for almost the entire vegetation period. The active soil reaction was evaluated in the range for weakly acidic soil and the exchange soil reaction for acidic soil.

Porovnání mineralogického složení vybraných půdních typů
Pastuszková, Lenka
Bachelor thesis is focused on comparison of physical and chemical soil properties and mineralogical composition of selected soil types. Object of study are Calcaric Chernozem (Velešovice, CZ), Leptic Cambisol (Ocmanice, CZ) and Leptic Andosol Dystric (Deception Island, Antarctica). Results showed that the wide variety of minerals and the highest amount of nutrients contained Chernozems. Less minerals and nutrients were determined in Cambisols. Very low nutrients content and the initial pedogenetic process was determined in Leptic Andosol Dystric.
Porovnání biologických a chemických vlastností orných půd a půd pod trvalým travním porostem
Bystřická, Lucie
Diploma thesis is focused on assessment of soil chemical and biological properties of Haplic Cambisolin different types of land use (permanent grassland and arable soil, intensively used in agriculture). Field experiments are carried out at the Forage crops Research Station of Mendel University in Brno at locality Vatín. Selected soil parameters such as humus content and quality of humic substances, soil reaction, water extractable carbon content, amount of microbial biomass, and basal soil respiration and substrate inducted soil respiration were determined by commonly used standard methods. Measured data set during 2017 and 2018 was statistically evaluated using program StatisticaCZ12, software (StatSoft software Inc., Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA). Obtained results shown statistically significant differences between arable soil and permanent grassland in total organic carbon content, humic substances content, amount of microbial biomass, water extractable carbon content, basal soil respiration.
Transformace vybraných půdních vlastností po aplikaci biouhlu
Holán, Jiří
Bachelor thesis is focused on assessment of soil chemical properties of Haplic Cambi-sol after biochar application (45t/ha). Long term field experiments of Mendel Univer-sity in Brno are carried out at the Forage crops Research Station at locality Vatín. Se-lected chemical parameters such as soil reaction, conductivity, buffering, humus con-tent and quality of humic substances, and content of available nutrients were deter-mined by commonly used standard methods. Elemental composition of soil was de-termined by ICP-MS (quadrupole mass spectrometr Thermo Scientific iCAP Qc) with inductively coupled plasma. Measured data during 2016 – 2018 were statistically eval-uated using program StatisticaCZ12, software (StatSoft software Inc., Tulsa, Oklaho-ma, USA). Obtained results shown no statistically significant differences between con-trol and application of biochar.
Charakteristika vybraných chemických parametrů u různých typů půd
Badalová, Denisa
Bachelor thesis is aimed at evaluation of selected chemical indicators of soil quality. Standard analytical methods for determination of basic soil properties were used. Studied soil types were selected in natural ecosystems and as arable land. Cambisols, Calcaric Leptosol, and Fluvisols shown statistically significant differences according to different types of land use. We came to the conclusion, that Cambisols (arable soil) has higher humus content to compare with Cambisol under grassland. On the other hand Fluvisols and Calcaric Leptosol contained more humus in the natural ecosystems (permanent grassland and forest). In this case accumulation potential of organic carbon was higher to compare with arable land.
Biologické a chemické ukazatele kvality půdy
Janderková, Michaela
Bachelor thesis is aimed at evaluation of selected biological and chemical indicators of soil quality. Standard analytical methods for determination of basic soil properties were used. Studied soil types Calcaric, Loamic Chernozem (locality Hrušky), Haplic Luvisol (locality Uhřice) and Gleiyc Cambisol (locality Desky) shown statistically significant differences in chemical properties and clayic particles content. Practically no differences were found in total organic carbon content and amount of microbial biomass. It was concluded that intensively exploited agricultural soils are low in humus and microbial biomass. They also gradually undergo acidification process and have low intensity of respiration. Increasing of organic input and liming is recommended.
Bonitace půdy na lokalitě Blansko
Sedlák, Luboš
The aim of bachelor thesis is land evaluation and soils survey at the locality Blansko. We determined selected physical and chemical properties and classified soil types. Mainly Cambisols were classified there. Our findings were in agreement with the results of Systematic Soil Survey. Subvariety soils were classified as Modal Cam-bisol, variety mesobasic and Modal Cambisol, variety mesobasic, subvariety meso-trophic on amphibol-biotitic granodiorite. The main result of bachelor thesis was administrative price calculation and soil evaluation.
