The beginnings and development of education in Jindřichův Hradec

The work deals with the origins of development of education in the town of Jindřichův Hradec (Neuhaus, Nova Domus). It briefly describes the history of the city, and it mentions the development of the school system in Bohemia. The study follows the development of educational facilities in Jindřichův Hradec from its beginnings in the Middle Ages up to the climax in the form of the University. The greatest attention is paid to the local pride of education - "grammar school" with its more than four hundred-year-old history - while trying not to miss any of the schools that arose in the town over the centuries. The study demonstrates the importance of Jindřichův Hradec as the school centre of more than regional significance.
Baroque pilgrimage site of Římov

The thesis focuses on history, development and description of this significant South Bohemian baroque landmark. In Římov there are connected two types of pilgrimage buildings - the Loretto chapel which is encircled by a cloister and twenty five stations of the cross. First part of this thesis deals with reasons for site development, possible models and historical development of the pilgrimage site. Second part focuses on description and present condition of the buildings and also of painting and sculptural decoration. It also contains short biographies of artists who participated on decoration of the pilgrimage site of Římov. The last part of this thesis describes the differences between pilgrimage site of Starý Hrozňatov and pilgrimage site of Římov, which had served as a model for Jesuits from Cheb.

Through the analyzes of the text "Zlaté hodinky Bohmila" (Bohmils' Gold Hours) by the Jesuit priest and missionary Daniel Ignatius Nitsch the study refers to the change in the understanding of "God's Love" in early modern society. It also shows a significant contribution of Jesuits to the expansion of "Gods' Love" cult, who did not consider "Gods' Love" to be merely a mean to strengthen the internal belief, but also as an effective tool of the Catholic Anti-Reformation propaganda.
