Awareness of the South Bohemia Region primary school teachers about autism and autism spectrum disorders
VOSTROVSKÁ, Marika
This thesis deals with awareness of teachers in mainstream elementary schools in the South Bohemian Region about autism and autistic spectrum disorders. The thesis is divided into four basic chapters followed by discussion and conclusion. The first chapter of the thesis focuses on theoretical background of autism and autistic spectrum disorders. The second chapter deals with the topic of autism and ASD in the school environment, including possibility of intervention. Chapter 3 and 4 include methodological part of the thesis. Chapter 3 focuses on quantitative research of awareness of teachers on this issue, as well as their needs and experience. South Bohemian teachers demonstrated their knowledge, attitudes and experience regarding autism and ASD in a short questionnaire and a knowledge quiz. Chapter 4 applies a qualitative method and provides an analysis of the interview, which was carried out with two teachers who work with students with autism or ASD in mainstream primary school. The base of the quantitative research was a questionnaire for teachers, which main purpose was to measure awareness and basic orientation in the problem of autism. Knowledge quiz focused on detailed investigation of knowledge base of autism and ASD among teachers concerned. This thesis established five main hypotheses with subhypotheses that have been tested in several respects, especially length of teaching experience, specific training of respondents, school size and previous experience with autistic students. Extensive testing has supported six sub-hypothesis, which show that the awareness is influenced by place (namely school size) and that previous experience strongly supports a positive attitude towards the integration. In the same way, experience with students with autism showed a higher interest on additional training in these issues. The qualitative part of the thesis analyses the interview with two particular teachers who work every day with students with autism and autism spectrum disorders. The thesis explores their particular experience with autistic pupils, their knowledge and education, but also the problems and needs these teachers have in communication with pupils.

The role of an assistant teacher in inclusive education of disabled child in kindergarten
PELCOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis deals with the role of the asistent teacher in the inclusive education of disabled children in nursery schools. Integration had been taking place over the last couple of years, but lately it has been replaced by inclusion, which is still not realised as extensively as it was originaly intended. Inclusion means integration of pupils with special needs into mainstream education, so that these can fully participace in all activities, as well as of pupils without a disability. Unlike integration, inclusion puts an emphasis on the change of the overall atmosphere and work in the class, which respects the individual needs of each pupil, not only the disabled one. The success of the whole process depends on many factors. One of them is the presence of the asistent teacher in the class which pupil with special needs is educated in. The main aim of the thesis is to show which role plays the asistent in inclusive education of disabled children in nursery school and thus emphasise the importace of his role in the whole process of integration. One of the partial goals of the thesis, derived from the main goal, is to describe the cooperation between the class teacher and the asistent teacher in given class. Last but not least it is also to show the purpose and the benefits of inclusive education of disabled children in nursery school and to find out what opinions do not only pedagogs but also the parents of the disabled children have on this form of education. In the theoretical part free large areas are elaborated on whose content reels off the theme of the thesis. At the begining of each one basic terms are defined, that the given chapter deals with. The first chapter describes different types of disablement. The gratest attention is given to disablements typice for children from 3 to 6 years old, others are only marginally mentioned. The second chapter defines the diference between integration and inclusion with inclusive education characterized in greater detail given the theme of the thesis. In the last chapter we can take a closer look at the professions of asistent teacher and his competencies . It is the last chapter that is most interlaced with the practical part of the thesis, which is focused on the content of the work of an asistent teacher and his position in a class that a disabled child is educated in. Because of the theme of my thesis I decided to use a qualitative research for the collection of the data, using the technique of semi-constructed interviews with individual respondents. In each of the nursery schools I interviewed the director, a teacher and a asistent teacher in the class. Additional way of collecting the data was also involved observation the work of an asistent teacher, which I got to do during my three-week internship in the Jindřichův Hradec nursery school in the last semestr of my studies. When it comes to the work of an asistent teacher, all the respondents agree that it is all about fully asisting the integrated child, which also includes personal asistence. In their opinion the goal of the whole process is to integrate the disabled child into the collective of other children in the widest extent possible. All of the respondents that I approached are unequivocally for inclusive integration of disabled children into nursery schools, which they percieve as positive for both the integrated child as well as the whole collective. It is clear from the results that the role of an asistent teacher is positively percieved by the teachers and it is an integral part in the inclusive education. The results of my thesis can be used as a source of information for all the people who are, like me, interested in the matter. The thesis can also be useful for schools that already have the inclusive education programme or for parents of disabled children who are considering integrating their offspring into the mainstream education.
Situation of student with special educational needs in climate of classroom
LEHOVCOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis is entitled "The situation of children with special educational needs in a classroom environment." Its objective is to map the position of integrated pupils with special educational needs in a classroom of intact children. Due to the extensive breakdown of the concept of pupils with special educational needs into several heterogeneous groups, a hearing impairment issue was chosen as the main subject of research. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The first mentioned area is further divided into three chapters. At the end of the first and second sections, there is a summary of their contents. The first chapter addresses the definition of pupils with special educational needs. The following chapters focus on the definition of hearing impairment. They characterize deafness in terms of its type and degree of disability. Furthermore, the study targets the attitude towards an early diagnosis and its impact on the psychosocial and individual role of the school advisory facility used by this target group, e.g. within their individual integration. The second chapter focuses on the psychosocial climate of the classroom. The subchapters deal with the definition of the classroom as a social group and the classroom climate characterized by its co creators teachers, pupils and parents. The main theoretical basis consists of the specifics of the classroom climate, which influences the integration of a pupil with hearing impairment among the intact classmates. The last chapter of this section describes the research methodology used when working with surveyed students with hearing disabilities from South Bohemia, who were integrated individually into mainstream schools. A qualitative research was applied in this work, namely through the analysis of personal documents of the probands and using a sociometric survey. The first mentioned method contains the data of the probands provided by the Special Pedagogical Centre for the hearing impaired in České Budějovice and the individual educational plans of the analysed subjects. A sociometric survey of the relationships in the classroom was carried out using a specially designed test assignment for the whole class. The collected data were used to elaborate three case studies of selected students with a hearing impairment integrated into mainstream education classes. The evaluated sociometric test shows that a pupil with a hearing impairment does not always have to take up a position on the edge of the classroom; that such pupil can be an equal member of the class group. Two of the three probands assumed a position of an unpopular, and an overlooked classmate, who was rejected by the rest of the class. An exception is a proband, who, despite the heaviest degree of hearing defects, is a popular member of the classroom and has even assumed the position of a star. The analysis of personal data of the three probands and the positive elections reasoned for by the classmates showed that the position, which the examined subjects occupy in the classroom is likely to affect their personal attributes. The position, which the individual probands take in the class group can influence the degree of the presence of aspects which contribute to successful integration. Such factors also include attitudes towards the probands held by the classroom teachers, who are the most important co creators of the classroom climate. The issue of the integration of pupils with hearing disabilities into mainstream schools and of the positions taken by such pupils in class groups, the popularity of all their members and the interrelationships between classmates would deserve an expanding research, which would contribute to a closer specification of the survey results.
