Breeding site fidelity in waterfowl
Kejzlarová, Tereza ; Musil, Petr (advisor) ; Fuchs, Roman (referee)
The thesis is concerned in breeding site fidelity and focused on Anseriformes, especially Anatidae. Higher fidelity ratio in females than in males is an interesting pattern of breeding site fidelity in this bird group. On the contrary, an opposite pattern, i. e. higher fidelity ratio in males prevailed among other bird species. This study is aimed at describing this phenomenon and discussion of factors affecting fidelity ratio. Among, the most important factors, the importance of the previous breeding success and environmental conditions is underlined. The study includes data about fidelity ratio from 40 studies of breeding site fidelity in Anatidae.
Analýza parametrů reprodukce ve šlechtitelském chovu hus
ŠÍDLOVÁ, Jana
The aim of the thesis was to analyse the reproductive efficiency of breeding geese in Fisheries Nové Hrady s.r.o. for the established period. The biggest difference in terms of fertilized eggs (P < 0.01) was observed between the objects of the Lomský předkmeny and Karolínský. A statistically significant difference of 13.42 % (P < 0.05) was among the objects of the Lomský předkmeny and Byňovský. The difference of fertilized eggs between the years 2016 and 2017 was of 25.64%, statistically highly significant (P < 0.01). The highest hatchability of setting eggs was detected in the object Karolínský. Was about of 15.01 % (P < 0.01) higher than in the object Lomský předkmeny, respectively. Byňovský (36.52%). In 2017 there was a large increase in hatchability of setting eggs of 24.95 % (P < 0.01), in comparison with the year 2016. The results of the hatchability of fertile eggs were similar. The biggest difference was recorded between the objects Byňovský and Karolínský. Difference 5.06% was not statistically significant. Differences in hatchability of fertile eggs have been between the object Lomský předkmeny and Karolínský, respectively Byňovský around 2.5 %. From the point of view, hatchability of fertile eggs was between the year 2016 and 2017, a statistically significant difference (7.48%, P < 0.01). The highest fertility of eggs were found in March, in April dropped by 15.82%, in May dropped by 11.60% and in June the decrease was only about 1.19%. A statistically significant effect (P < 0.05) were confirmed between fertility in March and May or June. Towards the end of the laying period by reducing the biological value of eggs occurred and to reduce the hatchability of setting eggs. Hatchability of setting eggs decreased in April by 13.75%, in May of 9.52% and in June only 0.78%. Differences in fertility between March and May or June was statistically significant (P < 0.05). For two-years-old geese, compared with one-years-old geese, fertility eggs fell by 29.1%, for three-years-old geese increased by 34.24% and four-years-old geese have declined by 18.75%. The difference between the two-years-old geese and one-years-old geese, respectively, 3-years-old geese were statistically significant (P < 0.05).

Analysis of reproduction parameters in the grandparent stock of geese.
ZEMANOVÁ, Lenka
The reproductive efficiency in the grandparent stock and the parent stock of geese was monitored in the thesis. In terms of the grandparent stock, there were found out better values in year 2012 than in year 2013. In 2012, there was a better egg fertilization of 4.61 % (the average was 49.65 %) and hatchability of the put eggs better of 3.83 % (the average was 39.01 %). The hatchability of the fertilized eggs was almost the same in both years. It has the same value of 78.63 %. Best results were proved in strains 1, 3 and 4. Worst values were proved in the strain number 41. The chosen indicators of geese of four ponds were monitored in the parent stock. The average fertilization of eggs was 58.26%; significantly higher value was proved in case of the Jakulský pond (72.34%). The average hatchability of the put eggs reached 46.46%; the highest value was also proved on the Jakulský pond (56.22%). The other ponds have balanced results. The hatchability of the fertilized eggs reached the average value of 79.10%, the highest value was proved on the Lomský pond (84.45%); the second place is represented by the Velebil pond (79.42%). The geese bred on the Lomský pond had eggs with the lowest fertilization, but with the highest percent of hatchability of the fertilized eggs. In case of geese bred on the Velebil pond, there was an increase of the monitored indicators in year 2013 than in 2012. In contrast, the Byňovský pond, the Jakulský pond and the Lomský pond showed an increase of the monitored indicators in 2012. There was a smaller difference of egg fertilization in geese of the Jakulský and the Lomský pond. There was a smaller difference of hatchability indicators of either put or fertilized eggs in geese bred on the Byňovský and the Jakulský pond.
Indicators of the egg yield and of the fattening in the geese breeding
KULHAN, Petr
The aim of the thesis was to elaborate a literature search about utility characters of geese and to analyse a basic statistical indicators selected indicators of egg yield and of fattening performance in the selection breeding of geese, with a view to selection and to inbreed in the Czech Republic, to the conditions for certification of selection breeding, including the purpose and mission of this breeding. Geese breeding and its technology, domestic geese properties and factors, which affect them, are described further in this work. Attention was also paid to veterinary monitoring and to care of geese breeding.
