Strnadová, Mirka ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Hronová, Tereza (referee)
This thesis describes the reflection of homosexuality in Czech media on the example of marches of homosexuals. Firstly I clarify the main terms and the differences between them, then I focus on the history of perception of homosexuality and the roles of homosexuals in our society. The chosen units for the content analysis are following periodicals: MF Dnes, Právo and Lidové noviny. The analysis focuses on the articles published in the range of three months from the day the events took place during the years 2008 and 2011. In the analytical part of this thesis I firstly characterize the marches held twice in Brno, once in Tábor and once in Prague. All the periodicals were interested in the first Queer Parade in Brno but their interest in the second and third one dropped. The most media attention achieved the Prague Pride in 2011. There have been over 100 articles about this topic and their size rose and dropped equally with the number of visitors of these events. The interest of the media has also been influenced by any kind of negative event, mainly when the marches were attacked by extremists or criticised by politicians. These negative and stereotypical statements in media can be very influential in the way of stigmatizing sexual minority and it is also one of the aspects which this thesis pays...
Homosexuality in primates
Falladová, Josefína ; Havlíček, Jan (advisor) ; Kuběnová, Barbora (referee)
Homosexual interactions were documented in more than 50 primate species, including humans. Homosexual behaviour is defined as either genital contact, genital manipulation or combination of both between same-sex individuals. The aim of this thesis is to systematically summarize the past knowledge of homosexual behavior in primates and critically analyze its possible functions. Homosexual behaviour varies in frequency, context and form in which this behaviour occurs, both between species, between males and females and during ontogenesis. I summarise not only studies looking recording homosexual behaviour in different primate species, but also regarding its form and the circumstances under which such behaviour occurs. Furthermore, in this thesis I introduce several sociosexual functions explaining homosexual behaviour, which are described most frequently: 1) dominance assertion, 2) tension regulation, 3) reconciliation, 4) alliance formation and social-bonding and 5) training for heterosexual mating. Sexual/hedonic aspects of this behaviour also form significant part of homosexual interactions. Possible functions of homosexual behaviour do not clearly point to a single explanation, homosexual behaviour could be multifunctional similarly to humans. Keywords: homosexual behaviour, homosexuality,...

Intergenerational perceptions of sexual differences in Vrchlabí
HAVLÍČKOVÁ, Iva
This bachelor thesis deals with the inter-age perception of homosexuality in Vrchlabí and its nearest neighbourhood. The thesis focuses on three main age categories: young adults (18-30), middle age (31-64) and seniors (65+).The theoretical part is divided into five main chapters. In the opening chapter the concept of homosexuality and other related terms is defined. The next part deals with the coming out, clarifies its process and specifies its particular phases. The following chapter offers a short view of the history of homosexuality and its transformations during the time since the middle age, across the medieval prosecution, till the 1990?s ? time of decriminalisation of homosexuality and the beginnings of public enlightenment for the homosexual minority. The chapter Nr. 4 helps to understand homosexuality in a biblical context and deals with theological stance towards homosexual minority and last but not least with the stance of the Church. The last part concentrates on homosexuality within the purview of the legislation of the Czech Republic and offers a short look at the process of decriminalisation, question of discrimination, civil partnership and the possibility of adopting children by homosexual couples. In the empiric part are evaluated the results of the survey, that investigated the level of awareness of homosexuals and the level of tolerance towards the homosexual minority. The method of the quantitative research was the questioning. The anonymous questionnaire was distributed to 150 respondents, returned were 84,6 % (127). The respondents were selected and questioned in local restaurant, manufacture, grammar school and retirement home. The reason for this selection was trying to find the widest possible spectrum of respondents from many points of view (identification). The aim of this thesis was to find out, how the younger generation perceives homosexuality compared to the perception of the older generations and seniors in Vrchlabí. The partial aim was to investigate, how well is the society informed about this problem, where the people get their information about this topic and whether they are well or ill-disposed to the other emerging questions about homosexuality. The issue of knowledge showed a strong influence of the media. However the school environment can be defined as not stimulating in the question of dealing with homosexuality. In connection with the aim of this thesis was proved the veracity of the hypothesis H1 which assumed that the younger generation is more tolerant to homosexuality than the older generation and seniors. Younger respondents have shown higher level of tolerance than seniors. The hypothesis H2 which presumed that seniors perceive homosexuality as a disease or deviation was confirmed just partially. The study states that homosexuality is mostly considered as a mental disorder by seniors, yet it is only 16 % of the questioned seniors. Because of this fact the hypothesis H2 cannot be with certainty confirmed.
The Families of the Homosexual Partners
EMROVÁ, Monika
The present diploma thesis explores the issue of families made up by homosexual partners. The reasons for choosing such subjekt were based on my focus on this area. The goal of the thesis was to compare opinions on possible forms of coexistence in partnership and parenthood of homosexual people collected from two groups, a group of heterosexuals and a group of homosexuals. The following hypothesis was postulated at the beinning of the survey: There are signifiant discrepancies between opinions on possible forms of coexistence in partnership and parenthood according to sexual orientation retrieved from groups of heterosexuals and homosexuals. The surveyed contingent comprised of two respondent groups. The homosexuals were included in the first one, the heterosexuals were entered into the second one. The first group included those female and male homosexuals who in one way or another keep in touch with the South-Bohemian Lambda. The second group comprised of female and male heterosexuals. A respondent from the latter group had to match a respondent from the former one in three given criteria (sex, age, and education). The survey objectives were achieved by way of asking questions. Doing so questionnaires were employed as the essentials tool. The hypothesis was confirmed. The outcome showed that heterosexuals and homosexuals have different opinions on possible forms of coexistence in partnership and parenthood of homosexual people. The results accomplished and published in this thesis are available for further studies and researches in this area and they can be used in teaching. The present thesis may also give feedback to the South-Bohemian Lambda which might find the survey´s findings very intersting.
Ethical questions concerning the homosexual partnership
TAUBROVÁ, Květa
This bachelor thesis deals with the topics which are connected with a partnership between homosexual persons. There is a description of few ethic problems, e.g. registered partnership, adoption by homosexual couples, convention and attitudes towards homosexuality in many different cultures and religions. Some important names e.g. Jiří Hromada (an editor of gay magazines and a gay activist) or important organizations e.g. SOHO, STUD, HRHO and many other organizations are mentioned as well. Homose uality was, is and probably will be discussed very much. It is a worldwide topic not only for ethic, but also for religion. Despite the fact that the Bible does not know the word "homosexuality", we can say that homosexuality is rejected by Scripture. (Lv 18,22; 20,13). The possibility of an adoption can be very often a wish of many homosexual orientated persons. That is why some terms connected with a compensatory family care, a procedure how apply for the compensatory family care and a possibility of IVF are concerned.
