Současná situace chovu fretek v České republice

This thesis on the topic: Current situation of breeding ferrets in the Czech Republic contains a summary of breeding ferrets. I describe the history, use, biology, nutrition, reproduction and breeding ferrets, including breeding farm. Special focus on nutrition ferrets, mainly due to the ever increasing interest in ferrets and very frequent errors in their diet, which makes large amounts of breeders think it is consistent with nutrition cats.

Chov kožešinových zvířat se zaměřením na chov fretek v ČR

This thesis is focused on characteristics of ferret breed in Czech Republic. Ferret is not a species typical for fur industry, however, specially, thanks to this kind of usage, it was possible to maintain a ferret population until these days, when the ferret lost its purpose as a hunting animal. Nowadays we consider ferret a fur animal even less, because it found its place in human households, just like dog and cat and therefore it is the third domesticated carnivore in human society, whose popularity steadily grows. In first part of the thesis I summarise the fundamental biological attributes of ferret, such as a zoological classification, which was not always clear. I also pay attention to the reproduction. The last part describes various ways of ferret breeding, such as fur farming, laboratory purposes or hobby. As sources I used scholarly publications as well as keeper's handbooks.
