Chosen organizations of Czech Caritas and their activities in the field of foreign humanitarian assistance and development cooperation

(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the activities of Czech Caritas organizations in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad. The aim of the work is to explore the possibilities and limits of transferring and sharing "good practice". The work consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is structured in three main chapters, which deal with humanitarian aid and development cooperation topics, describe the selected Czech Caritas organizations and define "good practice". The practical part consists of a descriptive research of the selected Czech Caritas organizations activities in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad executed between 2000 and 2016 and qualitative research of employee's approaches to mutual sharing of "good practice". Research questions are answered by combining questionnaire survey and interviews which are conducted with the help of the manual. The main results of this thesis is a summary table containing descriptions of activities in the field of humanitarian assistance and development cooperation abroad and presentation of employee's attitudes to "good practice" and its sharing.
Premiant of Foreign Development Cooperation - a Case Study of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

v anglickém jazyce The aim of this Master's thesis is to answer the question why Luxembourg contributes more to official development assistance (ODA) than recommended, why it increases its official development assistance to 1% of GNI. The work is based on the hypothesis that Luxembourg, a small state, is trying to increase its status through foreign development cooperation and through its gradual increase in official development assistance. By reaching 0.7% of GNI, Luxembourg is among the other four countries, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, which have already met this threshold. This group of five countries is the only one that has managed to increase its official development assistance to 1% of GNI and is considered the most generous donor. Luxembourg has averaged 1% of GNI since 2009, reaching number one in recent years, making it the most generous country. Luxembourg achieved 0.7% of GNI for the first time in 2000. In 2009, it reached 1% of GNI for the first time. The timing of the research is limited to these years 2000-2009. Transformation of the system of the Czech foreign development cooperation

Czech foreign development cooperation represents important part of the Czech foreign policy. It also demonstrates adoption of its own part of responsibility for resolution of current global problems. Together with becoming part of organisations such as European Union or Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development importance of Czech foreign development cooperation is growing. Next to the main goal which is reduction of poverty in third-world countries, development cooperation has also another goals: it is also contributing to construction of good relations with developing countries and it helps ensure economic, security and environmental interests of the Czech republic. Current system of the Czech foreign development cooperation has grown up from the foundations, which have been lawn before 1989. From that time Czech Republic has made a great effort to improve its system of development cooperation and become an effective and responsible donor. As a key step in the direction of desired changes can be considered process of transformation of the Czech foreign development cooperation, initiated in 2007.
