The work is devoted to study the evolution of the concept monstruality throughout European history. In my work I try to show the monster as a phenomenon accompanying the history of humanity from antiquity to the present. Perceptions about the existence of these enigmatic and mysterious creatures in the course of history has changed. Gradually, the monster was pushed out of reality into the world of fiction literature and films, yet had kept its popularity and attention million people as a cultural universal.
