The Real in advertising.The failure of advertising fantasies and its implications

The bachelor thesis explores the relationship between advertisements as pervasive public fantasies and the real in the form of the gaze, as understood by Lacanian psychoanalysis, through the application of Todd McGowan's theoretical framework of new film theory to selected audiovisual advertising texts. The thesis first outlines film theory as such then introduces a more general psychoanalytic approach to advertisements and finally presents McGowan's categorization of films according to their approach to the gaze, which it then applies to particular advertising texts. The thesis shows that advertising fantasies, despite their apparent support for the symbolic order, are, like film fantasies, in fact, sites of struggle between the symbolic and its own constitutive lack in the form of the real.

The diploma thesis focuses on the phenomenon of cult film, its theoretical definition, its history from the beginning to the present days, in world vide and Czech context. Another topic is the typology of cult films, selected cult directors. The other aim are fan activities, which are essential for the acquisition of the cult status of the film. The aim of this work is to reflect the phenomenon of cult film and to analyse selected Czech films in order to find out whether these films meet the cult film criteria according to the characteristics of selected theoreticians. The resulting analysis will confirm or will rebut my hypothesis and will show whether the use of the term cult film is accidental and has its backing in the Czech environment.
Media ethics and discursus of moral values in movie

Thesis is focused on media ethics and concentrate on moral values in film. The goal of thesis is to confirm or to disprove the need of applied ethics in film production. Thesis is divided into three parts. First part is focused on media ethics in film in general. Second part advise about several media theories and film in relation to ethics. Thirt part is dedicated to film semiothics and values. The core of theses is created of several aspect of film such as film editing, language and meaning through out film acting, sounds and costume. We do not emphasise good or bad impact on film on moral values but we bring out significance of value creation process. We underline film creation itself and tools of film production. The structure of thesis is interdisciplinary. I tis verz sensitive connection of ethics knowledge, media and semiothics. Interdisciplinar view brings toghether known facts and new approach.
