Measurement of thermoelectric modules
Martynek, Filip ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Brázdil, Marian (advisor)
This thesis describes principles of thermoelectric change, crucial parameters of thermoelectric modules and issues of its measurements. Theoretical part of this research is aimed on describing thermoelectrical phenomena, composition of thermoelectric pair and modules, naming searched parameters and issues that occurred during its measurements. Further in detail describes chosen testing approaches. In the end these methods are concluded and compared. Practical part contains description of testing device and experimental measurement of thermoelectric module.
Possibilities of Using Thermoelectric Converters in Power Industry
Halas, Miroslav ; Bartošík, Tomáš (referee) ; Macháček, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with thermoelectric transformers and their application in electrical power engineering. First, a theoretical overview is shown within which major personalities of the thermoelectric field are presented. Then, construction, functionality and fabrication materials of the thermoelectric transformer are outlined. The next part covers utilization of thermoelectric transformers within electrical power engineering through the history up until now. Also major world-leading companies are presented. In the practical part, the possibilities of thermoelectric transformers in conjunction with primary power sources are shown. Then, power output of solar thermoelectric transformer during winter is calculated using balance methods. At the end, a design of thermoelectric transformer exploiting waste heat of coal power plant and its rate of return are presented. In the conclusion, findings made during this study are summed and a complex assessment of the topic is done.
Scanning thermal microscopy of thermoelectric pulsed laser deposited nanostructures
Vaniš, Jan ; Zelinka, Jiří ; Zeipl, Radek ; Jelínek, Miroslav ; Kocourek, Tomáš ; Remsa, Jan ; Navrátil, Jiří
New materials with high possible figure of merit ZT are of high interest as a promising candidates for thermoelectric applications such as energy harvesting. Miniaturization of such systems tends toward developing of the suitable characterization method with nanometer resolution ability. In our contribution, we present the development and experimental results of a simple scanning probe microscopy method for the relative thermal conductivity characterization. The possibility of the setup is demonstrated on the set of different thin thermoelectric layers grown from hot pressed targets by pulsed laser deposition on the reference Si substrate. All the measurements were performed on the commercial Veeco Multimode scanning AFM/STM microscope with home developed controller and by using PicoCal Inc. bolometer probes with tungsten resistive path. All the experiments were done in the air at the ambient condition. Additional sample treatment for the measurement will be also briefly described
