Comparison of parameters of selected types of commercial lithium-ion batteries
Špina, Martin ; Libich, Jiří (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with operation principles of Lithium-ion battery. It evaluates its characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. Technological processes and materials used in manufacturing and recycling are also discussed. Practical part of the thesis evaluates initial capacity of given Li-ion cells at different loads. Batteries are then cyclically charged and discharged, and its capacity and other parameters are determined. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy data are also taken and evaluated for batteries in new-like condition, used batteries and cycled batteries as the capacity fades.
Battery charger for NiCd and NiMH batteries
Drda, Václav ; Šandera, Josef (referee) ; Háze, Jiří (advisor)
The work deals with design of self-contained NiCd and NiMH battery charger using switch-mode operation. The procedure of solution was proposed and based on defined characteristics of charger. The basic aim of the proposal is to obtain maximum utilization of parameters and life of the batteries. The other requirement is ability to diagnose defective of the batteries (short-circuited, disconnected and different capacity than other batteries). The simulation and partial tests served to fabricate the charger. Function was tested in laboratory.
