Possibilities of psychological intervention with focus on the end of the career by professional athletes

4 Abstract This bachelor thesis is divided into two sections. It starts with a theoretical part, which is devoted to a theoretical demarcation of the end of careers in elite sport. Further the focus is on divergent experiencing of athletes, depending on two different types of career endings including presupposed ends and sudden ends of athletes' sport careers. Also, the theoretical part introduces the latest possibilities of intervention in sport psychology. The second part of this thesis follows with a suggestion for a research project. The aim of this research project is to present forms and processes of the ends of sport careers from elite athletes in the Czech Republic. For research purposes, a pattern of questions of a semi-structured interview is created. The interview will be conducted by sport psychologists, who will be trained for the special aim of the research project. The study is based on a qualitative methodology with focus on the end of careers from elite athletes.
