Bonding of anodized aluminum
Mihulka, Jan ; Slováček, Marek (referee) ; Kubíček, Jaroslav (advisor)
The aim of the work is to assess the effect of surface treatment of anodization on adhesion of adhesive and overall strength of the joint. For the experimental part, four adhesives were chosen namely SikaPower 1554, SikaPower 1200, Ergo 7430 and Weldyx Professional 5 black. Using these, samples of anodized aluminium strips were made and subjected to shear strength and tensile tests. For both experiments, Sikapower 1200 adhesive came out best in terms of strength. The worst performer was Ergo 7430. When checking the fractures that occurred, it was found that almost all the fractures were cohesive in nature. This result leads us to conclude that the adhesion between the adhesive and the anodized surface was very good and led to satisfactory bond strength results.
