Cloud Computing in dentistry

This bachelor thesis deals with the opportunities of Cloud Computing technologies and services in dentistry in the Czech Republic. It is especially focused on the use of the Software-as-a-Service distribution model in dental practice management system. Primarily, the information system, which uses a cloud model for distribution of a the dental practice management software, is defined. Then the functionality requirements for this software and general advantages and disadvantages of Cloud Computing in relation to dentistry are summarized. This part also describes the legislative and technical prerequisites for keeping electronic health records. These theoretical findings serve as a basis for the market analysis of Cloud Computing in the field of dentistry in the Czech Republic and abroad, also to carry out interviews with dentists and workers of selected dental surgeries or clinics. Based on these interviews the current condition of dentistry in the Czech Republic and the attitude of Czech surgeries to Cloud Computing is described. The last part of this work presents the options of moving to the cloud and proposes solutions of some Cloud Computing issues, which emerged from previous analyses.
