Evaluation of the functionality of ecoducts using GIS
Benešová, Eliška ; Matějíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Brůna, Josef (referee)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of ecoducts using GIS, represented by the ArcGIS Pro software tool. We present a new, systematic view on the evaluation of ecoducts, which is directly applicable also in the process of planning their construction. We conclude that the majority of ecoducts in the Czech Republic is not built in an unquestionably correct way in terms of their primary purpose. At the same time, however, most of these ecoducts meet at least some of the assessed criteria; we can therefore reasonably assume that they will be used, albeit with a lower preference. The thesis provides a basis for this view and can be expanded by adding additional evaluated criteria. The validity of the methods and results of this work should be verifiable by field research. Key words: ecoduct, GIS, remote sensing, fragmentation, architecture, linear infrastructure
The effectivity of ecoducts for wildlife crossing of landscape fragmented by a highway network
Leštinová, Eliška ; Sedláček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Uhlíková, Jitka (referee)
Ecoducts or wildlife overpasses are migration objects that are often built not only in the Czech Republic, but in Europe as well. They enable animals to safely cross an obstacle, for example a road or a railway. Furthermore, ecoducts enlarge the home ranges of species, ensure gene flow between populations, and influence interspecies interactions. Ecoducts built in the Czech Republic are often criticized, especially because of their high cost and low efficiency. Majority of the existing studies compare ecoducts with other types of migration objects, such as underpasses, and often focus on selected aspects of these structures, such as their dimensions or location. There are very few summarizing studies focusing solely on ecoducts and what influences their permeability for animals. In this paper, I summarize what species are using ecoducts in Europe and North America, and I discuss how is the use of an ecoduct by animals affected by anthropogenic disturbances, design of the ecoduct, and its location in the landscape. Lastly, I describe monitoring methods used when studying wildlife overpasses. In the end, I summarize gained knowledge and list gaps in the existing research.
Design and optimization of the arch structure
Herka, Martin ; Vácha, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with a design of concrete arch structure. There was made a preliminary design of concrete structure of a buried arch bridge. Subsequently was the shape of arch structure optimized to oblige the requirements of real buried arch bridge structure. There is included static calculation of the ecoduct construction. It is developed detailed drawings
Ecoduct on Motorway D1
Matouš, Petr ; Boštík, Jiří (referee) ; Glisníková, Věra (advisor)
The master’s thesis focuses on suitable design of an ecoduct on the highway D1 near Jihlava. It includes a structural analysis of reinforced concrete strip footings and wooden beams in all phases of construction. The material of the main bearing system is glued laminated timber GL24h. An important part of three-jointed ecoduct wooden arched beams is well-chosen isolation.
Functional parameters of biocorridors built in fragmented cultural landscapes due to facilitation of the organism's mobility
Vaškovský, Adam ; Kovář, Pavel (advisor) ; Vojta, Jaroslav (referee)
Human caused landscape fragmentation, accompanied by loss of habitat connectivity, is currently a significant global threat to biodiversity conservation. One possible way to address this problem is to identify, establish and maintain wildlife corridors that connect isolated habitat patches to allow the movement and spread of organisms through the environment. This study based on literature review addresses the identification of relevant factors supporting functionality of wildlife corridors in various scale levels for different species or groups of organisms. Key words: biocorridor, ecoduct, barrier, landscape fragmentation, connectivity, dispersal of organisms, mobility, corridor functionality, landscape ecology
Function and use ecoduct in Czech Republic
Rösner, Radek ; Šmíd, Petr (advisor) ; Vykouk, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis is the utilization of measures to mitigate the consequences of human intervention in nature. In a review of the thesis I explain the theory of landscape corridors, migration corridor fragmentation and ecoducts themselves. The bachelor thesis deals with the issue at length ecoducts, their function and use in the Czech Republic. Usage analysis was used for statistical and technical data ecoducts that have already been built and which were built according to recent studies and concepts. In ecoducts chapter I pointed out the erroneous initial implementation and construction planning of ecoducts, but also the vision of anticipated and planned realizations of ecoducts construction.
