Folklore traditions of the Prácheň region and their use in music education

This thesis is focused on the folklore of the Prácheň region and what are the possibilities of its use in music lessons, primarily in the first grade of elementary school. The theoretical part focuses on a detailed description of individual elements of Prácheň folklore. For the most part, it is devoted to musical folklore, specifically folk music, bagpipe tradition, dances or folklore traditions such as the konopická tradition, which is gradually falling into oblivion. In addition to musical folklore, it describes traditional dishes or costumes. The practical part is divided into two sections. The first section is devoted to questionnaires. One for pupils from the region of Prácheň, which aims to find out the level of knowledge of Prácheň folklore and the degree of motivation to learn about it further, and the other for teachers, who aims to find out whether and to what extent they pay attention to Prácheň folklore in their classes. The second section of the practical part contains preparations for music education, each of which is dedicated to a topic related to Prácheň folklore. The themes are bagpipes, konopická and Švanda the piper, while many other folklore traditions of the area appear in them. The ensemble Blatenští dudáci ZUŠ Blatná

The history and present of an ensemble which is called Blatenští dudáci ZUŠ Blatná is the main topic of this bachelor´s thesis. The first part is focused on the history and the development of backpipes and bagpipe music in South Bohemia. Further, the thesis deals with the history of music school in Blatná, the formation of an ensemble, the transformation of the ensemble in the course of time, character of the performances, foreign tours, folk costumes and the repertoire. The ensemble was formed in 1987 on the initiative of Josef Škanta the director of primary art school. The current activities of Jana Janovská and Martin Škanta, the two most important members of the ensemble, are mentioned in individual portraits. Martin Škanta concentrates on adapting folklore for bagpipe ensemble in traditional style, as well as on enriching the bagpipe repertoire with new compositions and adjustment of current popular songs in modern style.
The Folklore of Chodsko in a Nursery School

The bachelor thesis is focused on folklore of Chodsko in nursery school. The goal of the work is spreading general knowlwdge of children about their region. They will learn gradually the facts of history, songs in the dialect, they meet the basic of traditional dances and customs of Chodsko. All of the topics was included in collection which was tried in a nursery school. The goal is an enrichment of children in their integreted block and spreading of musical development.
Bagpipers and bagpipe bands in the south and southwest Bohemia in the 20th century.

This work is a summary of performers of bagpipe music in ethnographic regions throughout South Bohemia, focusing on the second half of the 20th century to the present day. It describes the musical activities of individual bagpipers, as well as the influence of bagpipe bands in Prácheňsko, Pošumava, Doudlebsko, Blata and Kozácko. The work should not only function as a chronological history catalog of folk musicians for those interested in folk culture, but also highlight their accomplishments in maintaining South Bohemian bagpipe traditions, in both its authentic form, as well as natural development.
The phenomenon of bagpiping in the Czech Republic and its possibility of being added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

The purpose of this thesis is to figure out the significance of the bagpiping tradition in the Czech Republic its potential to be added to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The thesis explains the current laws and ordinances in the area of protection of intangible cultural heritage and its application in the Czech Republic. The paper then explores the history and development of the bagpiping tradition and shows the current presentation in rural culture. Based on this theoretical part it answers the question if the bagpiping tradition has potential to be added to the Representative List or if there are steps that need to be taken first.
The International Bagpipe Festival and its significance for cultural traditions of the region of Strakonice

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to assess the significance of the International Bagpipe Festival for cultural traditions of the region of Strakonice. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part describes the history of bagpipes as a musical instrument and tells the stories of the bagpipers of Strakonice who stood at the birth of the bagpipe tradition in Strakonice in the 19th century. The second part of the thesis deals with the International Bagpipe Festival, specifically with its history and nowadays' structure. The main consideration is placed on the participation of music ensembles from the Czech Republic and abroad, organizational structure and partners of the last five years of the festival which took place between 2004 and 2012. The topic of the third (practical) part is the knowledge of the bagpipe tradition and the International Bagpipe Festival among inhabitants of South Bohemia. The knowledge has been gathered by a quantitative research whose results represent the comparison of the knowledge between inhabitants of the Strakonice District and inhabitants of other districts of South Bohemia.
