Design of a composite shock absorber according to the rules of the Formula Student competition
Janečka, Jiří ; Vaněk, František (referee) ; Šplíchal, Jan (advisor)
The thesis deals with one of the possibilities of improving the existing impact absorber solution for the Dragon e3 monopost of the TU Brno Racing team. The first part of the thesis contains a research on the use of composites in energy absorption, mechanisms and failures occurring during the absorption itself. Then the most used concepts of impact absorbers are mentioned and described. In the second part, the design and implementation of the technical solution of a composite impact attenuator according to the rules of the Formula Student competition is carried out. This solution was then tested with drop test and the necessary data were measured. Finally, the crash test results were evaluated, these were then compared with the simulated data and corrections were made to the computational model. Comparisons with the previous absorber generation were also made and the main differences were described. Attention was also paid to the failures occurring during the crash test. The technical solution was evaluated and modifications for future generations of impact attenuators were proposed.
