Law and social regulation of drug addiction
Branšovská, Andrea ; Munková, Gabriela (advisor) ; Kotous, Jan (referee)
The topic of my thesis is the legal and social regulation of drug addiction. The drugs phenomenon stays a global and constant societal problem. I started to be interested in drug issue shortly after revolution, after I attended my very first talk about drugs within the school education. The aim of my thesis was to map development and current situation of drug problems, especially drug scene state, national and European drug policy, analysis of legislation, and last but not least, prevention, treatment and subsequent rehabilitation of drug addicts in the Czech Republic and European Union countries. Czech Republic came closer to European countries with the introduction of new criminal legislation. However, despite all efforts of harmonization of the European Union differences between countries exist in the legal framework and specific procedures in the field of drug. Individual states have their own characteristics in the drugs field, and therefore we cannot generalize uniform procedures for all states. Nevertheless, sub-national practices could stand for inspiration for the Czech Republic in similar cases. This thesis consists of four main chapters, which are further divided into individual subsections. The first chapter contains a definition of drug addiction and the basic classification of drugs,...
Drug Issues in Czechoslovakia 1918 - 1960
Šinkovec, Pavel ; Randák, Jan (advisor) ; Kolář, Jan (referee)
(in English): This thesis describes the development of the Czechoslovak drug issue between years 1918 and 1960. This period is divided into three parts, which contains an image of the drug scene, drug users, public view on the issue, the reaction of officials on the problem and connection with foreign scenes. The first part deals with the First Czechoslovak republic and its drug abuse within the upper class and demimonde. The second part describes the nearly disappeared drug issue in the 1940's. Lastly the third part deals with the drug scene in the 1950's, that was officially gone, while it just took the form of latent abuse of medicaments. The main focus is on changes of the drug scene and their causes.

Dilemmas of Low-threshold Facility Workers with Sddicts
ŠTROHMAJEROVÁ, Svatava
The theoretical part of the dissertation is aimed at identifying and overcoming of dilemmas in social work. It deals with external and internal instruments that help to solve dilemmas, like ethical code, supervising and the personality of the worker. I discuss the starting points of work and the system of services in the drug field in the Czech Republic. The practical part contains an investigative probe focused on the perception of dilemmas in working experience in a facility dealing with lowthreshold services in the drug field. This part explores whether workers in this field feel the dilemma working with clients, how they overcome them and who or what can assist them during the process of overcoming these dilemmas. Furthermore, an investigative probe detects whether the dilemmas in the chosen facility are the same as the theoretically described dilemmas mentioned by L. Musil, a reputable expert in social work.
Ethical Behaviour Aspects of Clients of the Prevent After Care Centre in Connection with the Build-up of their New Identity
KOREŠ, Jiří
The theoretical part of this diploma thesis deals with the changes of behaviour and attitude of clients who underwent drug addiction therapy. I have focused on the ethical aspects of these changes and their development within the build-up of the clients' new identity. I will analyse the environment and facilities in which the changes take place, approaches to therapy as well as addiction models, these being the decisive factors of change. I will also focus on the concept of identity build-up as presented in M. Brožová's analysis as a process of changes, which take place after therapy in communities and therapeutic facilities. In the conclusion, I will analyse the conception of ethics and the components of ethics as a basis to define signs of ethical behaviour in the topics of respondents. The practical part is a probe into the process of behaviour and attitude development of Prevent After Care clients. In the introduction, I will present the applied research methods, selection of fields, the research sample and operational procedures. Further, individual dialogues with respondents are included, including interpretation of the dialogues in relation to human practice and an interpretation of behaviour changes. In the dialogues, I will focus on the perception of changes by the clients themselves, their idea of freedom and their values.

JELÍNKOVÁ, Pavla
Annotation This bachelor thesis entitled " The drugs problem in the member states of the European Union" investigates actual and global problem of drugs. Its main aim is to present information about the EU work, its decisions and solutions adopted at the EU level. The first of the four parts of my work defines some basic notions related to the theme. The second part depicts problems connected with using drugs (for example drug production and trafficking). Another part of this work describes actual drug situation in the EU and its member states, which is based on Annual report 2007 on the state of the drugs problem in Europe published by EMCDDA. The last part of my bachelor thesis mentions main approaches to the drug problem, principles and objectives of the EU Drugs Strategy for the period 2005-2012 and some important organisations that cooperate with the EU on the fight against drugs.
