Evaluation of Long-Term Land Use Changes in Czechia at Different Scale Levels
Janoušek, Zbyněk ; Bičík, Ivan (advisor) ; Kupková, Lucie (referee)
Long-term evolution of nature-society interactions can be studied by using data of land use change. In the thesis is used a detailed statistical database of Czechia (developed at Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Science). The database allows monitoring changes of eight categories of land use in the period 1845-2000. Attention is devoted to the growing differentiation of land use at different scale levels, the thesis is concentrated on functional specialization of czech regions. Deepening division of labour between regions is reflected by increasing territorial concentration of land use. This process is monitored by using three methods. Ternary plots present an overview of the differentiation trends of land use. Spatial autocorrelation methods present the general development and specific areas of functional specialization in Czechia. A review by territorial heterogeneity rate provides a detailed look at the change of territorial concentration of land use. The thesis operates with three territorial classifications (hydrological, geomorphological and administrative) at two regional levels and the level of Czechia. Results are interpreted using the driving forces (such as technological development, economics, historical events, society). The final part of the thesis compares the development of...
LOST LANDSCAPES OF CENTRAL BOHEMIA: EVALUATION OF CHANGES IN LAND USE AND LANSCAPE STRUCTURE
Mór, Jiří ; Kupková, Lucie (advisor) ; Štych, Přemysl (referee)
This thesis deals with land use and land cover changes in two geographically close areas - - "Milovicko" and "Rožďalovicko". The thesis's main goal was to analyze land use / land cover changes between years 1836 and 2019 in the surroundings of Milovice town, where the military area called "Milovice - Mladá" was established in 1904 and dissolved in 1991, and in intensively-used agricultural area around small town Rožďalovice. The evaluation was mainly based on vectorized maps of so called Stable cadastre and on the data of current cadastre. Another goal was to analyze the development of landscape structure in surroundings of Rožďalovice, also between years 1836 and 2019. We aimed also to answer the question, if parcels of arable land in the stable cadastre could be considered as patches in the landscape mosaic. Based on three types of satellite data (PlanetScope, Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8) it was analyzed, how much landscape metrics and a description of landscape structure change in dependency on spatial resolution of remote sensing data. Satellite images from June 2019 were classified and then the landscape metrics, which characterized landscape structure, were calculated. Development of land use in Milovice surroundings differs from the trends of development of other (post)military areas as classes...
Interaction of man and landscape: impacts of socio-political changes to the landscape and agriculture in Czechia
Zavadil, Tomáš ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Hrabák, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis is an analysis of the influence of specific socio-political changes to the landscape and agriculture in Czechia. The chosen socio-political changes are the beginning of communist regime in 1948 and the transformation of the whole society after the end of communist regime in 1989. The main idea used in this thesis was the concept of driving forces and the other used concepts were social capital, agricultural diversification and intensification and extensification of the landscape. Detailed presentation of the influence of specific socio- political changes in agriculture and landscape was made by a case study in administrative region Tábor. The used concepts were described In the opening part as well as the main stages of development of agriculture and landscape in Czechia and in the model area. The main method used in the case study were semi-structured interviews with farmers, who were active in agriculture before 1948 and in the time of the research. According to the results of the research the influence of institutional driving forces significantly increased in comparison to the period before 1948. The results also showed to important role of non-productive functions of current agriculture. . Keywords: landscape, agriculture, driving forces, land use, intensification and...

Societal Driving Forces of LUCC in the Boží Dar Model Area, Krušné hory Mts., in 1842-2009
Kašková, Magdalena ; Fendrychová, Lenka (referee) ; Jeleček, Leoš (advisor)
The thesis deals with land use development in the model area Boží Dar, situated near the Czech-German border in the Krušné hory mountains, from 1845 to 2009. Based on an analysis of data taken from the LUCC Czechia Database, changes in land use patterns are explained and the primary driving forces, particularly societal forces, behind these changes are explored. This was made possible by analysing the historic-geographical development of the territory in question, focusing in particular on the last twenty years. Tendencies in land use development were similar to general trends for Czechia; however, they were more significant in the studied area. Major changes took place between 1949 and 1990. Besides the exodus of the Czech Germans after WW II, the primary factor of land use change was isolation, caused by the establishment of a border zone. Changes of similar importance, recorded in the 2000 - 2009 period, were caused by unique economic developments in Boží Dar. These are based on support for sustainable tourism, effectively drawing on financial resources from the EU and the active participation of local government administration. The most significant change was a decrease in permanent grasslands. At present, their overall area is increasing again, due to the renewed use of waterlogged land for...
Driving forces of land use changes in the Czech Republic
ŠKODOVÁ, Petra
In this thesis entitled "The driving forces causing the changes of land use in the Czech Republic" is a comprehensive overview of the major historical events and milestones affecting land use in the Czech Republic and abroad. The first part is devoted to the historical development of land use in Europe from prehistory to the modern times. Special attention is paid to the development of land use in the Czech Republic in the 19th and 20th centuries, whose events are immediately reflected in the subsequent development of land use in our country. An integral part of the work is examined in detail the current land use CR with factors affecting its current form. There are presented pictures and tables comparing the current land use with the land use of previous years, in the Czech Republic as well as internationally. Furthermore the thesis assesses the factors that affect land ownership in the country. Significant attention was paid to the work in determining the driving forces of land use changes and their comparison with Europe and the world. Except the natural driving forces, the work in detail evaluate social driving forces and a significant impact of grants, subsidies, financing and international organizations.
Land use changes in the Czech Republic and in Europe and their driving forces
VACKOVÁ, Lucie
The goal of this work is to develop a comprehensive overview of the main historical changes and turning points in land use in Europe. Particular attention is paid to the area of the Czech Republic, especially in the period since the Industrial Revolution to the present. This work was created thanks to the available statistic bases of the Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre, FAO and databases of the basic territorial units of the LUCC Czechia project. Preliminary extracts are devoted to defining the term land use, analysis and clasification of the most widely used systems and classes in the Czech Republic and internationally. An integral part of this work is also to determine the causes of changes in land use, ie. effect of driving forces.
