The property issues resultant from divorce in the Roman Empire Abstract This work deals with the topic of property relationships between married couples in relation to their divorce in the Roman world of the emperors. The main property issues at hand are dowry, property connections between the individual families and presents between the husband and wife. To understand the institutes involved properly, the work first presents the topic of marriage so that the reader may better understand the types of marriage, which naturally influence the divorce proceedings and their actual impact on the couple in question. The prerequisites of marriage are considered as well as the differences between marriage cum in manum conventione and marriage sine in manum conventione. Next, details of property relationships between married couples in times before divorce are discussed, especially as relates to the possible types of marriage. The topic of dowry, bridegift and gifts between spouses are contemplated. In its third chapter, the work deals with other forms of ending the marriage other than divorce, so that the institute of mariage in context of the roman empire can be better understood. The topic of marriage markets is solved mainly by economics scientists so far (Tertilt 2002, 2005, Botticini and Siow 2003). Much less attention about this issue is paid by biologists. It is still unclear how variant types of marriage transactios influence the shape of societies. However, the importace is not negligible. Possession ensuring of the sovereigns up to early 14th century

The aim of this work is to complete property tenure of Czech princesses and queens until the beginning of the 14th century. In connection with queens talk we about "dowry towns" formation. Under this term arises idea of the continuity of the transfer of widow's property. To be able to make such a generalization, it is necessary to study the provision of property wives of rulers from the standpoint of the previous developments, especially on the basis of diplomatic material and subsequently of narrative sources. According to the interpretation of existing proofs of property possession by princesses an queens, it will be possible to determine, whether there was a tradition of transfer of certain goods, not only towns but also movable and immovable property, rights and pecuniary pays. Obtained facts put the work into context of legal anchoring marital and widow's status. It is differentiated for these two categories, whether tenure which the queens were endowed with was the dowry, jointure or purely personal property. Mutual comparison between property tenure of female sovereigns is focused on presentation of different approaches to management of property issues with a greater or lesser degree of initiative.
