Developmental Disorders of Speech and Language in Preschool Children

The bachelor thesis focuses on the possibilities of communication development and speech and language therapy intervention in preschool children with specific language impairment. The theoretical part of the thesis depicts the ontogenesis of speech and language and also the issues of developmental speech and language disorders, especially specific language impairment, but also simple delayed language development, developmental dysarthria, developmental dyspraxia and articulation disorder. The empirical part of the thesis presents results of a qualitative research, case studies of three preschool children with specific language impairment and associated disorders, with various degrees of achieved communication development. The main aim of the thesis was to find out what are the possibilities of communication development in preschool children with specific language impairment. A seven-month observation of the children during speech and language therapies, regulating activities and free play, analysis of medical and special-educational records, speech- therapy diaries and interviews with the special-education teacher were used to achieve the aim and get the data.
