Dilemmas of social workers in the Department of Assistance in Material Need

The thesis deals with dilemmas in the department of material assistance. The aim was to find out what dilemmas social workers in the material need department encounter in relation to their profession and institution, in relation to the client, in relation to society and in relation to their own family. Firstly, attention is paid to material need, specifically to the Department of Assistance in Material Need and the benefits paid by this department. A possible future scenario of how the situation in this department will develop is also outlined. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the social worker and the client in material distress. The second chapter of the thesis deals with dilemmas of social workers, points out the difference between an ethical dilemma and an ethical problem, deals with the origin of dilemmas, their distinction and approaches to dilemmas. Attention is focused on the process of resolving ethical dilemmas. The third chapter is devoted to self-reflection and supervision as they can be tremendous aids in preventing the occurrence of ethical dilemmas. The fourth chapter provides an insight into the dilemmas encountered by the social workers in the welfare department with whom a semi-structured interview was conducted. Chapter five discusses these dilemmas from the perspective of ethical theories - deontology and utilitarianism. It seeks to find different perspectives on how the dilemmas can be resolved.
Ethical dilemmas in the decision-making process of placing infants and toddlers in substitute family care from the perspective of Social and Legal Protection of Children workers

Diploma thesis is dedicated to the analysis of ethical dilemmas combined with the decision making proces of placing infants and toddlers in subtitute family care and their possible return to their biological family addressed by social workers of the Authority for Social and Legal Protection of Children. One of the possible tools for dealing with ethical dilemmas and struggles during assessment and resolution of situations regarding children is using ethical theories. The main goal of the thesis is to find out what are the most common ethical dilemmas related to the decision making process of placing infants and toddlers in substitute family care and their possible return to their biological family dealt with by social workers of the Authority for Social and Legal Protection of Children and what strategies and techniques they use. Chosen method and technique of the research is qualitative research strategy combined with using the technique of an interview.
Ethical Dilemmas Of Social Workers When Working With Clients Who Provide Sexual Services

The aim of my diploma thesis is to formulate ethical dilemmas that social workers solve when working with sex workers and to analyze the most frequently mentioned dilemmas. The task of this diploma thesis is to describe and summarize ethical dilemmas. The collection of information was based on four semi-structured interviews with social workers. The work is divided into six chapters, in which I describe the target group, social work and its specifics with this target group. Other chapters are devoted to social work with sex workers, the role of the social worker and research methodology. The next chapter deals with the ethics of social work and the most common dilemmas of social workers. At the end of the work there is an analysis of the ethical dilemma of social work in the time of Covid from the perspective of the ethical theory of deontology and utilitarianism.
Ethical dilemmas of a social care assistant at work for homeless people

The diploma thesis deals with ethics in social work, specifically in the social rehabilitation service, which helps people on the edge of society endangered by the social exclusion. In the theoretical part we can find a brief description of the problematics of homelessness and services helping this target group, followed by description of importance of ethics in the social work. In the next part is this thesis dedicated to outputs evaluated on the basis of in-depth semi-structured dialogues, being held with workers of specific institution. The reader can get to know the most frequent ethical dilemmas of workers, at their work with clients. One of those dilemmas was chosen for an analysis and it was analysed using utilitarism and deontology
Financial evaluation of social workers and its influence on possibilities for a dignified life and self-care

This thesis focuses on the financial income of social workers and the possibilities of self-care for social workers depending on their income. The first part of this thesis contains a theoretical definition of the concept of self-care. First, this thesis describes the interconnectedness of self-care with mental hygiene, then it discusses the potential risks of inadequate self-care, and finally it presents the obstacles that social workers face in their pursuit of self-care. The second part of this thesis focuses on the financial income of social workers, both in non-governmental and governmental organizations. The third part of this thesis quantifies the minimum financial cost required for a basic level of self-care. This quantification is based on the concept of the Minimum decent wage. Based on this quantification, this thesis then proposes two possible adjustments to the financial remuneration of social workers. The final part of this thesis deals with the ethical side of the issue, which is considered mainly from the perspective of deontology and utilitarianism.
Ethical dilemmas in crisis telephone intervention among seniors

The thesis is of a theoretical nature. The thesis deals with the ethical dilemmas of telephone crisis intervention workers while working with seniors. This thesis aims to define the moral dilemmas of telephone crisis intervention workers, which are exposed every day, and to reflect on their solutions with the help of ethical theories. The first chapter presents the characteristics of age and ageing, age changes, and preparation for age. The second chapter contains the aspects and features of crisis intervention and the causes, phases, types and solutions of the crisis. Chapter three presents the topic of telephone crisis intervention as a form of help. Chapter four describes senior crisis intervention, the most common crises in old age and senior telephone crisis intervention. The last chapter contains the topic of ethical dilemmas in the senior telephone crisis intervention and the reflection of ethical theories responding to moral dilemmas of the line workers.
Ethical aspects of social work with youth at risk based on deontological and utilitarian ethics

The presented thesis focuses on the ethical aspects of social work with at-risk youth, from the perspective of utilitarian and deontological ethics. The reader gets acquainted with the connection of ethics in social work, with the risky behavior of young people and with the theoretical interpretation of ethical systems. Qualitative research is chosen in the work - a method of interview with several social workers who work with at-risk youth. Based on the results, the thesis analyses the applicability of ethical theories in practice with regard to the specifics of clients, their degree of usability, or what other ethical theories correspond in practice with the actions of a social worker.
G. Lipovetsky: The Painless Ethics

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to follow and to critically interpret the proposition about the development of ethics and morality in the work of Gilles Lipovetsky both on specific examples from the history of ethics and its contemporary reflections. The thesis should clarify in what cases is his philosophical and sociological diagnosis, analysis and prediction justified and where it is on the contrary problematic and why. Lipovetsky's proposition in his book The Twilight of Duty is that contemporary moral "boom" is actually a shock and not only a comeback or a revitalization of the traditional morality. It would be no exaggeration to say that contemporary morality is definitely leaving the traditional one behind. The ambition of the thesis is also to give a formulation of the character and typical manifestation of Lipovetsky's "postmoral ethics of the third type" with neither religious nor lay basis in form of duty. The thesis is aware of the tension between the ethical ardor and decadence, the incitements to individualism and the demands of society, in short the tension between responsible and irresponsible ethics. Psychological and ethical aspects of the last things of man

The thesis deals with the very last issues of a person from the psychologically-ethical view, however it doesn't neglect the social view. With the topic is worked also in a context of selected current ethical systems, mainly deontologism and utilitarianism, also regarding the topic of the thesis, the topic of bioethics is discussed as well. Regarding the field of psychology, the thesis elaborates more in detail on the existential psychotherapy, actually also on the logotherapy, which was shaped by an Austrian psychologist Viktor E. Frankl. There is also included the problematics of burial, the possibilities of giving a last farewell, also in a religious and an ethnical point of view. The key part of the thesis deals mainly with a needed psychosocial care for the terminally ill, the dying and also their close ones, in the times of pre finem, in finem and post finem by the prospective death of adults, it deals also with the influence of this care on the experiencing of the final period of life of the dying, and the following grieving of the survivors. In the thesis is also shortly mentioned the topic of palliative and hospice care. The thesis also follows the evaluation of the influence of the last farewell on the process of the survivors' grieving. The inspiration for writing the thesis were apart from professional literature and other professional sources also to a bigger extent the many years of work experience of the author, thanks to which is the work supplemented with many own cases.
Ethical questions in social work with Roma in selected organizations in České Budějovice

This diploma thesis deals with the ethical issues that arise during work with Roma families. In the first chapters of the text, the work deals with the Roma, their culture, family, traditions, historical origin. The following text presents organizations that work with the Roma in the territory of the city České Budějovice, their value foundation, principles, requirements for social workers etc. These were the Sociálně aktivizační služby pro rodiny s dětmi Sasanka, Oddělení sociálně - právní ochrany dětí and Jihočeská rozvojová o.p.s. Ethical issues have resulted freely from a critical reflection of the three compared facilities working with Roma families. In the following text there are presented two ethical theories by which the selected ethical questions are further processed, deontology and ethics of care. In the last part of this work, ethical questions are further elaborated using both ethical theories.
