Optimization and characterization of dimethacrylate-based resin
Baradzina, Lizaveta ; Petruš, Josef (referee) ; Poláček, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis was focused on the optimization and characterization of resins based on dimethacrylate monomers. The polymerization process was also monitored depending on the type and molar ratio of monomers used, on the content of barium glass filler and the presence of glass fibers. Changes in the viscoelastic properties of materials during polymerization were also investigated. The following methods were used to characterize the prepared dimethacrylate resins and composite materials based on them: viscosimetry, differential scanning photocalorimetry (DPC), photoreology, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The dynamic viscosity of the prepared dimethacrylate matrices was determined by viscometry. Based on the results of DPC analysis of the tested resins, the dependences of heat flow on time, conversion on time and polymerization rate on conversion were created. With photoreology, the course of curing, the onset of the gelation point and changes in the viscoelastic properties of the systems were monitored. The viscoelastic properties of the cured composite materials were then determined by DMA in the three-point arrangement. TGA was performed to accurately determine the composition of the tested samples
Preparation and characterization of highly filled composite materials for dental applications
Gavroňová, Ivana ; Bystřický, Zdeněk (referee) ; Poláček, Petr (advisor)
Master thesis deals with highly filled particulate composite materials for dental applications. In the practical part, the dimetacrylate matrix was filled with a mixture of particles of different types and different sizes to achieve the maximum possible packing. Moreover, filler content and the influence of filler on composite material was studied. Hydrolytic stability was also tested on composite materials. The methods used to characterize composite materials were bending test, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning photocalorimetry (DPC), dynamic-mechanical analysis (DMA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Curing of the matrix was characterized by the degree of conversion, the heat of polymerization and the polymerization rate. Furthermore the polymerization shrinkage was measured. The glass transition temperature, the dynamic modulus at 40 °C and 100 °C, the modulus of elasticity, the strength, the critical value of the stress factor and the critical energy release rate were found in the tested samples.
Fabrication of dental glass-ceramics
Hasalíková, Tereza ; Dlabajová, Lucie (referee) ; Bartoníčková, Eva (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the study of glass-ceramic materials and their use in dentistry. Nowadays, studies are placed on health harmless of the material, the biological ability to adapt to the host tissue, mechanical properties, affordability, easy and fast production, aesthetics and quick recovery of the patient. The theoretical part of the work deals with various materials from various input materials used for dental substitutes. Special attention is paid to glass-ceramic and ceramic biomaterials, their preparation, heat treatment and health testing. The experimental part deals with the preparation of powder materials by the sol-gel method. Of the larger number of samples, those were selected for gelation and showed good XRD and heat microscopy results. The selected samples were subsequently subjected to heat treatment to form a glass ceramic material. The products were characterized by XRD phase composition in terms of phase temperature behavior by TG-DTA analysis, heat microscopy and SEM morphology analysis of prepared particle.
Optimization of interfaces in filled dental composites
Gavroňová, Ivana ; Bystřický, Zdeněk (referee) ; Přikryl, Radek (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the particulate composite materials, especially dental composite materials and their properties, production methods and possible adjustments in either the particles themselves as a filler or modification of the interface between the filler and the matrix. In this bachelor's thesis also examines testing properties of particulate composite materials.

Creating of an educational program of dental hygiene at DVD for pupils in the first grade of secondary school
KONFRŠT, Miroslav
The aim of the thesis was to create an educational software with the use of DVD player. This DVD is supposed to influence the level of secondary school pupils' awareness about dental hygiene in a positive way. Furthermore, it should increase the students' motivation in taking regular care of their oral cavities. This should be helpful to persist not only their healthy denture but also their overall health. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the anatomy of the oral cavity, particularly on the tooth construction and types of teeth. Next, the issue of dental caries and their resemblance in other more serious dental diseases, such as gingivitis or paradontitis, is presented. The attention is paid to both mechanical and chemical tools for cleaning teeth which are the cornerstones of taking proper care about the oral cavity. Second part of the thesis is practical. It is based on evaluation two tests about children's knowledge of the oral cavity and dental hygiene in general. First test was given to the children before presenting the educational software to them and the second one afterwards. Thanks to this approach it was possible to evaluate the progress the children made and subsequently the effectivity of the educational software.

Health-social problems of a dental care of elderly people living in a senior house in Pacov
TŮMOVÁ, Dana
Teeth aging and the troubles accompanying this process are expected and accepted as a natural part of aging. However, consequences of inadequate dental care, dental care neglecting, a lack of awareness, along with the natural process of involution, the deterioration of physical and mental condition cause an array of difficulties significantly affecting the quality of life. Not only health problems occur, but also speaking and articulation disorders, disorders in food intake and poor aesthetics, which result in a social impact. This issue has been marginalized, though it constitutes an important aspect of human life. The thesis deals with demographic aging implications, the chapters refer to oral health of seniors and there are sections devoted to the description of the health care facility where the research was carried out. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the health and social problems in dental care of seniors in the Senior Home {--} Home for the Elderly in Pacov. I focused on the seniors´ subjective views on this issue. The method used was quantitative research, the data collection technique was that of guided questionnaire. The research results are summarized in graphs and tables. The objective was achieved, the data acquisition was carried out without difficulty, the questionnaire survey was more time consuming due to the specifics of the target group. Partial objectification of the information obtained was made through the use of the content data analysis technique. The both negatively constructed hypotheses were confirmed, although to a lesser extent than anticipated. H1 The state of teeth in the seniors in Senior home- Home for the Elderly in Pacov negatively affects their life quality. H2 The current system of dental care of seniors in the Senior Home {--}Home for the Elderly in Pacov does not correspond to the real needs in terms of seniors´ life quality. I consider my research an indicator of the quality care of the institutionalized elderly, the outcomes of which will lead to the improvement in care standards in this particular facility and also to a better awareness of the professional public about this broad issue.
