Use of respiratory physiotherapy in freestyle swimming technique

The aim of this thesis is to describe the effect of respiratory physiotherapy in freestyle swimming technique, what effect respiratory physiotherapy has on the strength of inspiratory and expiratory muscles and what subjective changes occur when introducing respiratory physiotherapy into training. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes general information about the anatomy and physiology of respiration, respiratory mechanics, including the implementation of the optimal breathing pattern. Furthermore, the crawl swimming style and the main muscle groups that are needed for this style are described here. In the practical part, case reports of 4 probands who have been training regularly in the swimming section for several years are detailed. Oral pressures were measured using a MicroRPM instrument, which evaluates the strength of the inspiratory and expiratory muscles. It also includes the design of therapy, which focuses on respiratory techniques, but also on the mobility of the chest, shoulders and overall posture, including the involvement of a deep spinal stabilization system. The resulting effect of the therapy is positive, when there was an increase in the initial values of maximum oral pressures, but mainly to greater chest mobility, better involvement of the DSSS and better respiratory stereotype. An important result of the therapy is the subjective perception of probands.
Respiratory physiotherapy affects the quality of life of children with spinal muscular atrophy - How, when and why?

Annotation This thesis deals with the influence respiratory function in children with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The theoretical part provides an overview of respiratory physiotherapy techniques that can be used in the care of the airways in people with SMA. The practical part deals with the question whether it is possible using the selected techniques of respiratory physiotherapy after six weeks of training to affect ventilatory parameters in children with SMA. The group of six probands with SMA I. - III. type in the range of the age from 3.5 to 12 years participated in this study. To objectively assess changes was performed spirometry efore the beginning of the therapy and after its conclusion. The main therapy was daily training with inspiratory breath simulator CliniFlo. After the finishing of therapy there was a positive change in all measured parameters except for vital capacity (VC) and maximal expiratory flow at 75% of FVC (MEF75), where the values didn't change. Effect of breathing training and DNS on lower esophageal sphincter and back pain in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease

This thesis focuses on lower esophageal sphincter and low back pain in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Common etiological factor of both GERD and low back pain frequently present in GERD patients is diaphragm dysfunction. Diaphragm fulfils respiratory, postural and sphincter functions, all these functions are interrelated which we benefit from in therapy. Theoretical section presents anatomy of the esophagus, upper and lower esophageal sphincters, diaphragm, follows etiology, diagnostic methods and treatment of GERD and LBP as well as common therapeutical approach by means of postural and respiratory physiotherapy. Basic principles of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization and Respiratory muscle training are presented and their use in the treatment of GERD and LBP. Practical section contains a case study of a patient diagnosed with GERD, kinesiological analysis, high resolution manometry of esophagus and therapy focused on diaphragm activation achieved by improving trunk stabilization and by optimising patient's breathing stereotype.
