Cynical animated drunks as modern day heroes

The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the study of selected antiheroes having some common features, such as alcoholism and cynicism. The investigated fictional characters are the protagonists of contemporary American adult animated series. Specifically, they are fictional characters from the series Archer (2009-2019), BoJack Horseman (2014-2020) and Rick and Morty (2013-2020). These are the main characters of aforementioned series, whose names also appear in the very name of the individual series. The full names of these fictional characters are Sterling Archer, BoJack Horseman and Rick Sanchez. All selected series come from contemporary American animated series and are characterized by a complex narrative, which allows the emergence of specific fictional worlds in which the individual protagonists operate. The work raises the question of why protagonists with these common characteristics appear in these selected contemporary animated series from American production. To answer this question, several sub-questions and hypotheses arise from them are set out. The work thus outlines the importance of some great social and cultural changes resulting from the transformation of Western urban society of the modern era into a postmodern state.
