Dopad trestní minulosti na pracovní vyhlídky: Field experiment
Onuferová, Michaela ; Dušek, Libor (advisor) ; Peľak, Branislav (referee)
The thesis deals with the problematics of statistically discriminating the previously incarcerated during the process of getting a job. Since the imprisonment trend has been increasing in the Czech Republic since 1993, this topic is highly relevant. The effect of previous incarceration or the criminal record in general has been studied by many economist and with the use of many methods; however, to my knowledge, no similar experiment has been used in the Czech Republic in this context. The thesis was based on an experiment - responding to the actual job advertisements offering low-qualified positions with four pairs of fictitious résumés aiming at the data collection and proving the possible statistical discrimination of the previously incarcerated on the labor market. Using the chi-square test of independence, the discriminating approach was confirmed as statistically significant. The survey is complemented by a questionnaire aimed at the recruiters responsible for filling the low-qualified jobs and apart from the question of imprisonment of the job applicants, the wider concept of criminal record in general is also taken into account.
Employment of people after serving of imprisonment in the Czech Republic in 2015
Danielová, Tereza ; Barák, Vladimír (advisor) ; Krebs, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis focuses on mapping the current status of people released from prison on the Czech labor market. Closer examination is focused on the main barriers that these people are facing in entering the labor market, and the organizations that help such persons to overcome these barriers. This work also maps out what forms of assistance are currently available in the Czech Republic, as integration into the labor market is an important element in reducing the rate of recidivism. This work also aims to determine what are the social costs and costs for the state budget related to people with criminal records. The practical part of this work consists of an investigative analysis of the issue of employment of people with criminal records. The main recommendations of this thesis are primarily greater cooperation with and support for the activities of NGOs and possibly the introduction of financial subsidies to motivate employers to employ people with a criminal record. This recommendation is supported by the results of a survey of employers in small businesses.
Persons released from prison on the Czech labour market
Pešatová, Martina ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Tomáš (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the effectiveness of activities helping people released from an execution of punishment with integrating into the Czech labour market. Attention is drawn to the research question whether the monitored activities reduce reconviction of persons released from a prison and whether they increase their employability. The thesis concludes by identifying main problems of employing the target group and offers recommendation for their solution. The hypothesis about the impact of supportive programmes on the recidivism was not confirmed; on the other hand the positive impact of activities conducted by some non-profit organizations on the employability of released prisoners was affirmed. The recommendation of this thesis is to support the activities of non-profit organizations. This recommendation is supported by the results of a survey among the employers.
